OT: Costco/UC gear
The Costco in Dayton has a lot of OSU and UD gear right now. Does the Costco at Tri County have a lot of UC gear? Is it worth me stopping on down there?

RE: OT: Costco/UC gear
I don't know about Costco, but on one of our trips back to the auld sod, we stopped for lunch at a Cracker Barrel in Forest Park. There was no UC stuff in its gift shop, but plenty of OSU paraphernalia. I actually shamed the manager about it.

It seems to me that UC would/should have someone whose job it is to promote product placement in area stores.

I see a lot of UC stuff at Cracker Barrel on Fields Ertle Road.

UC makes their kickback from the licensing, they really don't see any additional funds once the item is made, so why bother?

RE: OT: Costco/UC gear
Costco Tri-County did have a nice assortment of UC polos, tees, and sweatshirts prominently displayed last Saturday on their version of "Main Street" right after you entered the store. Disappointing that they don't carry it in Dayton but it speaks to an issue long discussed here about UC's need to raise the profile 50 miles to the north.

Cracker Barrel has carried UC gear during football season for several years now and has actually had some pretty nice product in the past. If a single location didn't have it, it may not have arrived. Or, better yet, it sold out and they need to re-stock. Purely anecdotal evidence, but in this corner of the state I've seen the UC merchandise selling out long before OSU at any number of retailers.

Direct income from merchandise/licensing is fine and all, but the marketing value in having a strong presence in every store, restaurant, office, and neighborhood in the region is incalculable. I'm doing my part with a small Bearcats flag on the top of my cube, and a large C-paw flag in my front lawn. 04-cheers

Sam's at Eastgate usually has quite a bit of UC apparel. I got nice UC lawn chairs there and they recently had UC canopies, footballs, coffee cups, etc.

I've seen UC stuff in the oddest places. Three years ago the Menards in West Lafayette had some UC hoodies.

Three weeks ago, the Meijer's in my new hometown (Normal, IL) was selling UC hats. They didn't have much college stuff other than Illinois and Illinois State.

UC pull overs are at Costco in Florence. UK pull overs also can be found.

Glad to hear this; there was a time when finding any UC gear in northern KY was like finding a four leaf clover. Related, I always smile when I drive down I-75 and see that red UC Health sign, sponsoring the Florence Freedom ballpark. Expanding the UC brand across the state line is great and that's tens of thousands of impressions each day with the traffic on the busiest Michigan to Florida route.

I've seen a hat with the familiar C-Paw logo at one of those generic sports-apparel places here at a shopping mall in western Colorado. As anyone who's ever driven across Kansas knows, that's a looooong way from Cincinnati.
