An edge for what?

New Year 6 Bowl. Boise State blew out Troy. App. State almost came close in beating Penn. State. Penn. State almost beat Ohio State. Troy beating App. State would boast Boise State better.

It’s going to be whichever AAC school finishes unbeaten. Even if they all lose one, it’ll probably UCF

I don't even know why this who should go to the NY6 bowl game debate stupid nonsense should continue... Of all FBS conferences the AAC has the most difficult in conference strength matchups.
Here's what MUST be automatic for AAC programs end season results.
NY6 = Any AAC with 11 -1 or 10 - 2
Playoff Slot = Any AAC program with 12 - 0 record

Cincinnati is 5-0. The teams we have played are 2-10 against other FBS competition.
Our opponent next week (Tulane) will not do much to improve our strength of schedule.
But it's not entirely our fault. We played at UCLA, and they're historically awful this year.

If they "all lose one", that means that the Champion lost one before going into the Championship game ... if the three (AFAIU) current East Division unbeatens round-robin their wins and losses, but whomever gets the tie breakers to win the division goes on to win the championship game, I'm pretty certain they go to the Access Bowl.
Where the race opens up is if all three stumble more seriously than that, or else the stumble happens against a multi-loss Western Division champion in the CCG, and either way a multi-loss Division champion wins the AAC CCG. A two or three loss AAC champion opens the door to another Access Bowl representative, if there are any other Go5 champions that have the resume to walk through that door.

Yes, if the Bearcats played and beat even a mediocre UCLA, that would be a quality win for a Go5 school in the Access Bowl race.

I think they might not pick an AAC just to spite the P6 crap.

USF, UCF, and Cincinnati don’t play each other until the final 3 weeks of the regular season so there is the potential for some high profile matchups late in the season, which could help

Assuming they all remain unbeaten until they play each other, yes.

RE: Remaining Unbeaten Teams (Updated Through Week Five)
Last year after Week 6, there were 7 teams that had become bowl eligible. Three of the four CFP teams were among them. No teams failed to achieve eligibility by losing in Week 6.
This year, there are 10 teams that could become eligible Saturday. They are Clemson, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Cincinnati, Hawaii and Notre Dame.

So long as one of those one-loss teams are the conference champion.
If they all three lose one, with one of those losses coming IN the CCG, none of the three would be eligible. Sure, that implies something odd, like a late game being called on event of weather and not able to be rescheduled ... but between hurricanes and the newish lightning rules, that's not inconceivable.
