My wife says Wilder is too much of a cheerleader. And she was a cheerleader!

Time to man-up, Bobby, and grow a pair of coconuts. If you want participation trophies, then go back to pee wee football.

By the way, if you're not following Adam Winkler on Twitter, correct that immediately.

Can Bobby be the new Charmin mascot?

Softer than your average baby ****!

He really is man. Somewhere around the country, a coach is receiving threats from fans. Is that right to do? No. This shows how truly FCS, BW is.

I echo those same thoughts. Life isnt all sunshine and rainbows Bobby.

Cant handle the heat, GTFO the kitchen Bobby.

He's welcome to do whatever he wants with his social media account, I just wish he wouldn't talk about it. Could be worse, at least he's not responding to trolls. But now we all know it's all sunshine and rainbows on his twitter feed, great.

I find blogs hysterical they say people get so mad at a football game. 99.9 percent of these bloggers have never played football past HS and I willing to bet their HS careers wasn't much. Yet they come on message boards and can critique coaches and players like they have actually been in this position before. The easiest way to win a game is from the stands you can catch every pass complete every throw and call all td plays and you win every game!!!

I love the assumption that coaches and players are always right when compared to fans. In what world do people not screw up?

I know that trying a fake punt twice, after a time out, from your own 25, in the first quarter, of a 7-0 game, after watching Bobby Wilder's fake punts fail year after year, is not the best coaching decision. He even said himself that if he could do it over again he would not try it. But the thing is, he did get to do it over again, AND STILL DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its like your family doctor. Of course, they occasionally screw up, but all your family members read webMD and think they can diagnose themselves.

it's called a mistake people make them all the time. Hell I make mistakes at my job also does not mean I not good at what I do. I'm pretty sure we all do.

I was going to make a long, contrived response to the negativity but it’s not worth my time. I believe in what I believe in, I was hurt and upset beyond belief at the game. But I decided long ago that ODU was part of my life when I was given the opportunity to walk-on and that means through the good, bad and the ugly. We’re going through an ugly phase right now and I personally think we’ll snap out of it, but the ugliness portrayed on these message boards, Twitter, Facebook will follow you for a long time. The disdain is saddening and I hope you come to realize that support and positivity goes further than anger and spite.

I love my Monarchs, I love all of us fans, and I can’t wait to support, yell, jump in excitement next week when we kick FIU’s ass. Go ‘Narchs.

No hard feelings.

Bobby Wilder is not the coach for you if you want a coach to play it safe and not go for 4th downs. Its just not going to happen. No one remembers the ones that are successful, but every failed one is the worst coaching decision in the history of college football. (though, I did not agree with the one on Saturday)

And sometimes its hard to see the forest for the trees when you are dialed into implementing a system year after year, and an outside observer may see something that you don't. I know after several years of coaching I realized that I was starting to focus more on my system than results and individuals at times, and that led to me being less effective. It happens. People fall into routines, and I think on the offensive side of the ball, we are seeing some of that.

Bobby Wilder is not the coach for you if you want ODU to be somewhat competitive against Power 5's, Liberty, or App. St either.

Ex ODU player? So because i never played a snap of highschool or college football I cant criticize or trash talk? News flash, FANS pay for A LOT of what ODU FOOTBALL does. Keep writing off those fans and our program will find themselves as an afterthought playing in front of crowds comprised of nothing but parents...

No one in their right mind is going to continue putting money towards a program IF WE CONTINUE CRAPPING THE BED LIKE WE DID SATURDAY.

Cheers to me and my non football taking snaps ass.

RE: Civil Discourse & Kids
I am not sure I understand.

One doesn't need to have played or coached at the college level to assess performance.

If that were the case, every University president, athletic director, professional owner, or general manager would need to have played at the relevant level. While some have, most have not.

In fact, the best teaching coach I ever saw was a Norview High head JV football coach, and head swim coach. He never played HS football but regularly produced undefeated teams. He also produced stellar swim teams and couldn't swim well enough to even safely go in water over his head.

Having said that, it would seem to me that many fans can at least be able to discern athleticism and skill.

For example, if a db keeps footraces with opposing players, it might be that he is not as fast enough to play that position competitively. I think most fans could see that accurately.
If a WR consistently drops passes, I think fans can see that.
A QB does not throw accurately, I think fans can see that.
If an interior lineman consistently gets beaten, I think fans can see that.
If a FG kicker cannot make a FG, I think fans can see that.

It may not always be apparent the root causes of the issues.
That is where the luxury of forum speculation comes in. Without it there is no reason for these boards at all.

We should submit our scholarship letters to the mods, so that the college athletes can have a checkmark next to their names, and only be the ones allowed to post. I bet that would make for a great forum.

We aren’t the ones playing the games. We are just here to talk about the sports . That’s what this place is literally for.. We aren’t getting a scholarship to attend this message Board because we were apparently good enough to post here.

I agree to an extent. I can’t say whether other positions how you would know when to criticize, but kicking wise, if a kicker misses a kick, do you always blame them? Do you understand the timing aspect and how a single mid-step can throw off a whole operation? Do you Always blame a kickoff guy when he doesn’t kick a touchback without knowing that the gameplan was to place the ball inside the five with 4.0 hang because you have a better chance of holding the team within the 25? (Obviously that’s not as applicable anymore with the fair catch rule) but still.. just food for thought. P.S. one of my best kicks in college I missed on my own accord, one of my worst was a make where I had a new snapper and timing was completely shattered. Criticize constructively but only to the affect of what you know, because a lot goes unsaid.

I have no problem with anyone critiquing anything I say on these boards, in fact I welcome it. It makes my life a little more interesting every time I have a discussion with others on this board, whether they agree with me or not.
