I find it hard to believe that Nike would go to bat for a QB who is washed up like Kap.

It would be one thing if this was a QB like Rodger, Brady, or even Goff.

I guess the thinking is to appeal to the neighborhoods where they support Kap and steal their shoes.

Get the popcorn ready.

Who cares? It's obvious he isn't cut out for football and activism is his primary objective anyway. Let him go and do whatever campaign he desires. Folks can choose to buy Nike or the other various brands with their money, etc..

Elaborate more on those neighborhoods if you would. I’d love to hear more, although I suspect you won’t say anything else.

I only care about it from looking at it as a business case. I mean what company does this the week the NFL is starting. The first season in 2 years where the focus isn't on the anthem.

I am beginning to believe the real goal here is to destroy the American only sport of football.

They are making significant progress.

I nominate this one for right-wing post if the week. It’s an excellent of example of the combination of ignorance and racism that are the foundations of today’s party of Trump.

This is the best advertising campaign that ADIDAS has ever had.

Nike sees the writing on the wall, and they want to be able to point back in future decades and say they took active steps to be on the right side of the struggle for equality. They’re going to take some heat from the racists right now, but it’s definitely the right long-term move from both moral and financial standpoints.

Don't think so. There is definitely long term strategic planning at corporations; however, that's way too long of a horizon to project out. This is a snap judgement by someone in charge of marketing who thinks that this ad campaign is going to be a net positive TODAY. We'll see if that happens.

Then answer the question and tell us why and how they propose to fix it to their satisfaction.

A decision of this magnitude was signed off on by a lot more than a SVP of Marketing, and it wasn’t done in a snap. Nike knows their market, and they see how this is going to play out. And you’re wrong if you think this is a massively long horizon.

Unsure how sticking a middle finger up to half of your customer base is a good financial standpoint. But, I could be wrong.

Kaepernick could shave his head and make more money selling his hair than Nike will make from this mistake

If this Kapernik issue was a race issue you might end up being correct but it is not a race issue..... People of all races are participating in this kneeling thing, just as people of all races ARE NOT. If this was a race issue - people would be bitching about WHY he is kneeling and that is not the case.

CK (by his choice) became the poster child for this whole kneeling thing. I don't like him doing it, but it is certainly his his right to do so; and that part I do support. He could have diffused the issue as it pertained to him and HE CHOSE not to - that if fine butt....

By CHOOSING to run the point on this, he is accepting the responsibility that comes with it. There are a ton of people who support him and a ton who do not, and that level of controversy is not something any team wants to deal with UNLESS CK is talented enough to win a lot of games.

You should know that Tolerance and Talent go hand in hand. It is a simple mathematical equation that every team measures. The weight of the attention on this issue raises the bar of talent needed in order for any team to raise their tolerance they have for the player.

In simple terms - CK isn't good enough to justify the Public Relations heat for making a roster. He had a one hit wonder season, and that was not enough to outweigh HIS CHOICE to be a SJW Martyr.....
