We are high on purple crack.

We beat them, North Carolina ATZ&R just beat them, they are down but they won't stay down. This is a program that has on the reg. packed a 55,000 seat stadium and they are in JMU's dream conference. They are in North Carolina...BEWARE, ECU can make a really tempting offer even in the face of the Bourne Ultimatum.

If Houston were to turn ECU to where ECU once played, P5 and major bucks here he comes in five years instead of "we are ready but CUSA has not called Godwin Hall."
No they haven't.
Its not a 55k stadium. Its 50k
51,082 stadium record
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dowdy%E2%8...en_Stadium
Even if you exclude last year, the avg over the last decade has been about 45k.
Avg attendance:
2008: 42,016
2009: 41,742
2010: 49,665
2011: 50,012
2012: 47,013
2013: 43,985
2014: 44,786
2015: 43,274
2016: 44,113
2017: 36,727

55K or 50K, no difference. The point was we have posters squatting on ECU as if the ECU job is not significantly better than the JMU job.

The current ECU coach that is 6-19 with two fcs losses is paid base $1,000,000 plus incentives of $950,000. Houston is paid $515,000 AFTER JMU's max stretch to pay the most successful coach in school history.

Are we really comparing ECU job to the JMU job? AAC vs fcs?

I love JMU always and I do believe JMU is in a "good position" whatever that means but I wonder what JMU athletics is pouring, maybe grandpa's ol' cough medicine, in the purple Kool-Aid some of you are guzzling. Maybe you guys are pouring your own Kool-Aid, that is some strong drink either way.

If ECU dropped $1,300,000 base (ECU easily could) in front of Houston, how many of you think he would say no? ECU already provides well for assistants, we could lose the whole staff except for whichever assistant Bourne hires as the next HC after a "national" search a la basketball.

Pray ECU starts winning football games and goes to a bowl.
That 515k isn't JMU's max stretch. That is MH's base. Also got a 50k retention bonus.

All of his bonuses and incentives stay the same from the initial extension he inked after last season. Max possible $145,625:
$31,250 making playoffs
$5,000 winning CAA
$46,875 winning 3 playoff games ($15,625 per playoff win)
$31,250 making NC game
$31,250 winning NC
https://jamesmadison.rivals.com/news/hou...-big-raise
Total max possible: $710,936

I wonder if he gets the $5K if we are co-champions of the CAA? My guess is yes. Not enough money to fuss over. It does shock me just a little that there seems like little importance is placed on winning the CAA.

Well you’d get the autobid so it’s kind of tied together with making playoffs. He’d lose the 5 grand if he got an atlarge.

I'd probably be more worried about your coaching situation than ours. If our guy leaves, it will be due to success, not by embarrassment.

And hate to break it to you, there is no chance you're getting Houston. If he leaves, it will be to a legitimate program. It won't be to the laughing stock of FBS. You could always try to get Withers though!!

I think everyone is worrying too much about this personally. I'd be more concerned for the 2020 offseason. JMU has 20 of 22 starters from this past week returning in 2019. Unless an SEC team comes calling I don't see anyone walking away from that kind of season on the horizon. HCMH is on the Jim Tressel path if anything. FCS to P5.

+1

Having been through this multiple times in my life (read: head coach desired by others and threat of being poached), you will miss the enjoyment of the here and now if you constantly worry about the future. Yes, I'll laugh my buttocks off at EZU losing at home to NC A&T. I'm not going to allow that result somehow raising the likelihood that HCMH leaves for Greenville one day wash out my chance as a fan to laugh my buttocks off at EZU losing at home to NC A&T in present tense. Btw, have I told you lately that after NC A&T defeated EZU, I was laughing my buttocks off and still am?

03-thumbsup
