Still, Miami has a shot at competing in the MAC so this game should be taken seriously (and I think it will be). Until our QB situation becomes otherwise, running should be the name of the game.

Coach has already stated that they have to keep the mo and be ready for this rivalry game. I look for them to repeat the formula at UCLA but look for some twists here and there. I agree that we don't need to be too cute at this point. Don't try to be something we're not. Ridder can manage the game, peel off a run when called and take care of the ball. Our front 7 on DEE + Wiggins should hold their own against My-AM-Muh (do your best Kirk Herby impression). Can't wait for this game to get cranked up!

The staff really need to work on the passing game plan for Riddler. It seemed they did not expect Riddler to stay in the game as long as he did and most the play calling reverted to short passes or screens. It worked against UCLA, but we will need to open the field up a bit more or teams will just stick everyone in the box.

UCLA may have had the most talented group of defensive backs that we have seen all season, so hopefully our WR's will be able to get some separation against Miami.

If so, that would bode well for an improved passing attack this Saturday. I don't think it will take that many completions to add a little balance to a potent UC running game.

Has there been any update on when Doaks might return? If UC continues to make as many rushing attempts, they'll need to find a reliable 2nd and 3rd back to spell Warren and as insurance against short or long term injury. It seems it's been forever since we saw a running back for UC take over the game the way he did.

Who was the underdog in the Miami/Marshall game? Who was the underdog in the UCLA/UC game? Riddle, riddle.

Underdog or not. Consider me skeptical that the result will be any different than it has been the last 12 years.

Any idea the status of Doaks? We will need more than one RB to play in the future. I'm not doubting this coaching staff but am curious why Warren and the QBs are the only players with rushing stats. Is there no confidence in our Freshman RBs or the backups? The UCLA game was coached to win, not to try new things...those games will come soon. I am surprised another RB (Boose?) wasn't ready to go on Saturday, if just to spell Warren.

I hope the staff prepares Ridder as the one all week. That doesn't mean they can't play Moore if we struggle in the passing game. Moore is a senior who probably doesn' t need the reps Ridder needs. Ridder came in a looked great early, even made some really nice throws. As the game went on and UCLA adjusted he really struggled in the passing game. I think preparing him for a more full load (plus going against lesser talent on defense) will help. Despite some comments that I thought we needed a defensive score to win if we stuck with Ridder all second half, I liked more of what I saw from Ridder than disliked. I just felt the offense was not going to sustain a long drive with him at QB late in the second half. It was a big ask of the young man. But the defense stepped up, got a safety then got him the ball back in UCLA territory and we finished. Love to see if a full week as the one can extend that success for longer periods of time for Ridder.

Collar poppin? The last game I went to in Oxford, all the MU students were walking around dressed in replica NBA jerseys.01-wingedeagle

RE: My-AM-Uh, O Pregame Talk
I think the big key to Saturday, and really the entire season will be the Defense. That could not be a more obvious statement, but the UCLA game has given me some hope that our defense may actually be good/competent.

I know that UCLA is not going to be good this year, and they have a ton of issues, but for the past 5 years it seems bad teams have just run all over our defense. We let a bad Purdue team rack up over 500 yards a couple years ago, and last year teams like ECU put up almost 600 yards of offense on us. I know the secondary is still a question mark, but it seems like we actually got penetration and were able to hold an athletic QB in check.

Also took a gander over at MURedhawkTalk... it seems they've given up hope of beating UC. 12 years has taken its tole. They are all baffled to see their team favored.

This team needs to lean on their defense and minimize turnovers. That right there was the biggest issue with Moore. He consistently had untimely turnovers throughout his career that completely changed the momentum of a game. Definitely give Ridder all the work at QB this week with the 1's and I think we'll see the passing game open up a little bit more as well. We have some talented WR's who can do damage downfield. Plus we wont face a secondary as good as UCLA's for at least a good while. Also, was happy to see them stick with Warren throughout, he's the type of back who gets better and better as the game progresses if you continue feeding him the ball.

I've posted it before, but in addition to his 9 INTs, Moore had six fumbles last year. He also had six fumbles the year before that as well. We saw him turn the ball over again on Saturday. I don't know if it is grip strength, hand size, or what have you, but he just simply losses the football when pressure is applied. Its been that way since he got here.

That thread, and their entire board, is hilarious from a UC standpoint. Definitely worth the read.

Moore has had his issues with fumbles in his tenure here, but there are times where he has had little help from his o-line. I was very happy to see Ridder come in the game on Saturday, but it also seemed like we had a lot of first game jitters from the O-Line, and it was not to be unexpected as we have a group of guys unfamiliar with each other.

I don't want to make excuses for Hayden, but it looked like he never had time to throw the ball in his two series.

There is gonna be a whole lot of Collar Poppin' Saturday night.

We can deal with collar poppin' and the general douchery that surrounds it. As long as they don't let your sororities come down on the field and soil the turf, we should be OK.

There was similar incident by these MU clowns at the Freedom Center a few years ago. They were caught, among other things, urinating on the exhibits.
