RE: Big Hoss Iron Truck: Michael Warren II
I guess I jinxed him last week by complimenting him for not fumbling, but I suppose I can excuse that one if it's his last of the season. Hopefully he's back next soon although (even without Doaks) I don't feel all that worried as long as we still have Thomas and McClelland healthy. We'll just need to be a little more creative with our playcalling.

Even if you did, I'll take one fumble in 6 games. If he was injured it was a "ding" because BDF said nothing post game and Warren appeared in the post game video I posted earlier. I wish Thomas could get a few more carries/game because that is one nasty man child running with the rock.

Might we consider a few two back sets?

Warren had 45 TDs his senior year at Toledo Central Catholic. Some guys just have a knack for getting in the end zone.

David Small! My first favorite bearcat football player.

Back when I was a student. If Small would have played for UC football 10-15 years later (when more people started taking note of the program), he would be part of every day discourse around UC football:

5th all time in rushing yards for a career (2,963)
9th rushing yards for a season (1179)
two entries in the top 10 for rushing yards in a game (233 and 219)
2nd all-time in career rushing TDs (31)
1st in TDs for a single season (17)
3rd in TDs for a single game (4)

I remember some details about Small.
If I remember correctly he was not that big of a guy but he used to run between the tackles.

I especially like the # of yards after first contact. He is not getting a lot of big holes to run through untouched. He is earning most of his yards.

Not to get ahead of ourselves but 2002 DeMarco McCleskey holds the single season rushing record for UC at 1,361 yards. If Warren continues his pace of 113 yards/game he'll finish with 1,364.

Through eight games:

163 ATT
863 YDS
5.29 AVG
12 TDS
81 LNG

Single season rushing record at 1,361 Warren needs 498 over the next 5 games. Still entirely possible that he breaks it and the single season rushing touchdown record.

Any doubt we'll be watching him on Sundays?

He's so intuitive as a runner.

As much as i loved watch Pead run, MWII is working his way to that top spot. The only doubts i have about him with respect to the next level is his speed. He's got the rest of this year and the next 2 to work on that. I would love to see him make it there tho. If he does, that likely means he will have done a whole lot to help UC reclaim our spot in CFB along the way.
