I can understand the frustration. Having graduated from WMU, some people might say "West Michigan" instead of Western Michigan.

Most of the time, it's when we play out west that the Northern comes out. Seems like people on the West Coast like erns on things.

Northern sounds like it is just north ish but my question is :
Shouldn't it be A University of North Alabama rather than The?

Same could be asked of The University of Alabama?
It's not the only one nor is it the best one?

I think some people use that ERN thing just to get under the skin of "North" or "South" schools.
