Game 2: FIU vs ODU
Well after last night I can’t say I am nearly as excited or really looking forward to the season but I’m still tailgating and supporting our boys. I’m looking for some vast improvement on offense and better coaching. That could be asking for too much though.

FIU 34
ODU 21

FIU is no push over. I think we come out wanting this game. I just hope the fans show up. Monday...practice better be a scrimmage. Every position is open. There is NO 1st team and no Depth chart.

We are going to find out about the run defense this week. Fortunatey, FIUs passing game is not on Liberty’s level. FIUs defense may be better though.

Hard to predict a win after watching last night. Can we capitalize when we get opportunities? Can Williams make good throws? Can we stop the run?

Those are My big 3 questions going into the game.

I hope there was an EARLY morning meeting between the Athletic Admin. and BW. Something needed to be conveyed to him in no uncertain terms.

Bobby Wilder needs to be banned from fake punts unless the game is on the line. He probably has a less than 1% success rate with his gimmicks.

Think we already know the answer here. I don't see any change after one week.

Anyone know why Arnold did not get LaRussas turn?

That's a good question. I'm guessing he runs the best 2 minute offense.

RE: Game 2: FIU vs ODU
My prediction is that Wilder is taking so much heat re: the QB decision that BL or DA will start against FIU. And, if that is the case, I think we’ll beat FIU. We looked good on the BL drive and we had the momentum (until the missed FG).

Also, we need to evaluate what freshmen can play. I haven’t examined the freshmen roster in detail, but we need a fast RB (perhaps Davis?), a second WR/catching threat (Mayo?), and a cornerback. Brickhouse got abused all night - and I don’t see that changing. I’m sure FIU will go after him next week.

BL got the sign from Wilder to get ready with over 6-7 minutes to play in the 2 quarter. It was after 2nd down play. BL was signaling a play to SW and Wilder pointed at BL and BL ran over to the bench to get his helmet and started warming up with Whitcomb with 6 min to go

I'm looking forward to the game next week. I have committed myself to be openminded, hope for the best, and enjoy the ride. I don't want to read anything, think about outcomes, or even talk about the game. I just want to show up and hope that the team does as well -- with a fresh attitude and renewed resolve to get this right!!

Was it just me or did our corners still look undersized? Brickhouse never turned his head around once the entire game. Can't count the yards lost from penalty's simply cause he never even made a stab at the ball.

The opposing teams game plan has been written in stone for several years now. If BW doesn't do something different next week, it's all over.

Mondays are the off day for colleges like Tuesdays for the NFL. Totally agree that not one starter from last night's game should start against FIU.

I think they should start of they earn it. The key to the FIU will be can we run the ball ? Our OL had better get much for aggressive on blocking on running plays.

You are one hell of an optimist. I hope you enjoy.

This is my approach as well. Going to enjoy the atmosphere the best I can. I'm not expecting a win, I just hope it's not a blowout.

Davis is a loose cannon. Brickhouse didn't get abused all night. He played the guy instead of the ball which will get you beat everytime with a PI penalty to boot.

Nope, not one of them should start just to make a statement. I'm over the unicorns and rainbows crap.

Care to explain?

Brickhouse had a tough night for sure. I thought the penalties were pretty soft overall. Luckily, thats probably the best WR he will face all year long.

Strong is probably the fastest RB we have. In terms of QB play, They did move the ball with Larussa, but mainly due to a great run after catch by Cox. He also mishandled the 2 min drill hy taking too much time at the LOs and then taking a sack. The running game want good either way, but I wonder if Bl being in the game will hurt it due to his inability to run and lack of arm strength pushing the ball downfield.
