RE: Game 2: FIU vs ODU
FWIW, Worton also went to FIU as a non scholarship player. Not, that is isn't a solid player, but he's not as good of a player as AGG. It's really not close. Simply using catches/yards in a 1 game sample really doesn't mean anything at all. There are several factors and it also ignores the penalties and 3 touches AGG had. If AGG was a "free agent" right now, he would have some major offers.
Either way, I will move on as it's not pertinent to this game.
FIU is not great at anything in particular. The offense is mid tier CUSA and the defense is not good at all. If the offense doesn't show improvement, this season aint gonna be pretty.

Brandon Sinclair has looked like the best back of the guys outside of Cox IMO. He needs to get more reps

Geez, he just can't stay healthy. He's been killing it and adds that big play threat.

RE: Game 2: FIU vs ODU
I just hope that not having to do this in front of 6k loud, screaming, and coordinated students makes a difference and our boys feel a little more comfortable this week.
And maybe some of us can try to make FIU a little uncomfortable on Saturday? Perhaps we can channel some of that hatred we shot at our own coach over the last 3 days. It might help these guys find their confidence again and get to 1-1.
Go Monarchs!

I have to say, I am not as convinced as many that Cox is the guy. We have never been even an average offensive team when he has been the starter. As a compliment to Ray, he was solid, but as the starter he has never produced. I think it is time to look in a different direction for the starter at RB.

When Cox is healthy, he's incredible. Unfortunately, he hasn't been healthy since a couple games into the 2017 season.

Cox is good when we have another RB sharing snaps. Cox frustrated me last season by giving up on plays and or missing blocks.

Cox peaked in 2016, as did the entire ODU rushing game.
Rushing output declined last year, dramatically for Lawry, who went from 1255 yards to 742 on 68 fewer carries.
Cox had more carries, 147 vs 129 in 2017 but fewer yards, 621 vs 732.
The most glaring decline in Cox' production is the 13 TDs in 2016 vs 4 last year.
I hope that 2018 doesn't see a continued declined on the ground, but our RBs ran for only 86 yards vs LU.

One thing I saw in Cox last week was his inability to shift direction. He runs straight ahead, hole or no hole. I'd like to see a little more shiftiness.

We beat them last year at their place. We dadgummed sure better beat them this year at our place. Time for our guys to forget last week, move on and play the way they are capable of playing. Let's go, Monarchs!

Hard to shift too much with a bum ankle.

On the plus side.
1. the WRs looked crisp and got separation.
2. on most plays, the quarterbacks had more time in the pocket than in recent memory.

I give Fulgham a lot of crap about dropping balls on here but he looked good both times he caught the ball Saturday.

Per Ed Millers piece:
"Still, Wilder pointed out Monday that, for the fifth straight game, Williams didn’t throw an interception". See this is the kind of BS that makes me really dislike politicians and coaches. We all know the truth. Please don't be so disingenuous.

RE: Game 2: FIU vs ODU
I hope I am wrong, but IMO there is no chance we win this game. We have shown an inability over YEARS to fix the same mistakes. What is going to change over a week? Wilder is a bad coach who is relying on his tenor to keep his job. He admitted that his fake punt calls were bad, but then immediately retracted it by saying you need to have those calls and it worked last year. Full of excuses, unable to learn from mistakes, and sugar coating everything. Again, sorry to those posters who find this hurtful. Things we must say on this board nowadays.

He didn't throw any interceptions because where he threw them NOBODY could catch um?

There were a couple SW throws that were close to interceptions.

Rain appears to be very likely for the game. This season just keeps getting better.
