80 vs 88
Wondering if there's any construction on 88? Can't leave for the game until 10 am. I'm in between 80 and 88 so just looking for the fastest option

88 is one lane for 37 miles.....from Aurora to Rochelle....or at least it was last weekend. I have driven it three times over the past 6 weeks and thru that stretch, the average speed is only about 45 to 50MPH.

Expect the construction to last thru football season on 88.

I took 80 and it was virtually traffic free. 3 hour zoom both ways.

This was the first roadtrip where I saw no NIU fan cars on the interstate. Everyone must’ve took 88.

And they were caught in the 88 bottlejam. Let this be a warning to everyone for this Saturday. 88 right now is a mess thanks to construction. What annoys the hell out of me using it every couple days, there was one day with sun, reasonable heat, little wind, and no one was working. Had to use it late one night and then they had just a couple areas being worked on under heavy illumination. But either scenario, it's one lane for miles and miles and miles.

I'm still trying to figure out what on 88 needs repairing. Except, of course, the pocket lining of the road construction companies, who in turn line the pockets of the politicians.

The asphalt paving companies must be in cohoots with the state. 90 is three lanes of long-lasting concrete, all the way to the Cheddar Curtain. 88 is the same way until Sugar Grove, then two lanes of shoddily paved roadway. The initial end date was late August, now its a vague "by the end of the year". What a scam.
