Pennington is the only True Freshman and not a RS. But then again coming into 1995 Pennington was 4th on the depth chart and not even close to being the starter for the season opener. Chattanooga was the 4th game of the season.

Yeah, and then I think he was redshirted the next year.

That he was. Donnan took the UGA job after the 1995 season and Pruett come in from FL and brought Eric Kresser with him. Was probably the best decision, I doubt we go 13-0 in 1999 without Pennington being a RS Senior.

Id have to find a 1995 roster to find out. I know he started 4th on the depth chart though.

Was only talking about it as it related to Isiah Green's debut. If Green continues to grow this season under center it could be another fun ride for the next 4 years. We have the pieces at RB, WR and OL to make Green look real good.

Think about the quality of QB's Donnan brought to Marshall, Pruitt brought Leftwich, but didn't have as many QB's that could start in one season.

Pruett was the HC at the time but Mark McHale and Mark Gale are the 2 that sealed the deal for Leftwich to play at Marshall. Just think Gale has been at Marshall now since 1990 in some capacity as either a coach or asst AD.

His family is top-notch as well.
