Kennesaw State at Georgia State
Went to the Kennesaw State vs Georgia State game last night. The last game I attended was the Duke bowl game as I live in Georgia. GSU is a Sunbelt team and Kennesaw is an FBS (level below NIU) team that is ranked #5. It was a great game but the game day experience was what i was interested in. GSU plays in the old braves stadium. They have enshrined the portion of the wall that Hank Aron hit is record breaking home run over. Since it is off campus they served beer. It was packed and the crowd was really into the game. Reading all the negative comments about our attendance, this was a great game day experience. For KSU basketball they have a DJ and the students know the songs and know when to get up and do certain routines to certain songs, another great tradition at KSU. It sounds like NIU could learn from KSU. First game next year for the KSU Owls is against KSU (Kent State) and we will be attending this game. There home motto is "protect the nest", and they also have a tradition of everyone bringing a brown lunch bag, putting faces on the bag and this is the turnover plank. It was on ESPN last year vs the Miami turnover chain. KSU has been playing football for only 4 years but have already developed traditions.
At the Duke game, my wife kept asking me about "the play", it was kind of embarrassing to have no explanation why we faked a punt like that.
I hope when I do get up to NIU for a game that I can show her a good game day experience but I am a little worried that will not be the case. Currently looking at going to the BYU game (might move to Utah) or the Toledo game as I hate Toledo (33 seconds)
Since i live in SEC country, I have gotten quite a few people to start watching the Huskies. During the OSU game, friends were calling me and they were stunned at the way the Huskies were hanging with NO. 1 OSU.
Just ranting because I so want to attend a home game have a great experience

Great post, but this is probably better served in an email to Frazier rather than on this board.
