Two losses prevented us from playing in 4 straight Liberty Bowls from 1996-1999, and neither one of them was a road games vs. an elite SEC opponent.

For that matter, one loss to one of them prob prevented us from the sugar or orange in 1981.

Interesting story: Before our TTT loss to Louisville (when we were at #7 in the country WITH A BULLET) , different bowls bounced around the names of possible opponents---and Mizzou was one of the few major programs that bit.

Seems Ohio State and other schools were bandied about, but none wanted a piece of us after 58-14 over a ranked FSU.

then the TTT

We still took 9,000 folks to cold, cold cold Orlando (19 degrees, seriously), but the Loserville loss took the wind outta our wings.04-cheers

If we could’ve beaten Tulane, Houston, and Louisville a few more times in the mid ‘90s through the early ‘00s, we’d be in much better shape today.

Conversely, I guess it doesn't matter if they could've beaten us a few more times, huh? 04-cheers

No it doesn’t, to be honest. Timing is everything. Give me a win over Houston in ‘96, one over Tulane in ‘98, and 3-0 vs. UL from 2000-2002, and I’ll glady give back any 25 wins over those teams elsewhere throughout history.

Can't hardly argue with that, Mr harbor my friend.
