Congratulations To Santacantarina
Santa was in a four person QB competition at S.E. Missouri State and he was recently announced as the starter. Coach Tuke is impressed with his arm strength, leadership skills and decision making.

I will be checking in on their progress all year and I hope they have a successful season.

thank you for posting, always like Santa. Class act I believe, and he always played hard and hung in there waiting for his chance. Hats off to him.

Yep, good luck to him. Seemed like a gamer to me.

I liked Santa and was hoping he would be the starting QB. But let's go, Childers, show us what you can do.

Agree, time to move on. Childers is our guy now, but wish him the best. Article said he is coming back from off season surgery. He had a short yet very productive NIU career, comeback win against EMU; a W in his 1st start against KSU (2016); an impressive win against EIU; another comeback W against Nebraska in Nebraska; a loss (the only loss of his career) against a ranked SDSU team, a bad ending to a great game; two in effective series against KSU, and he basically never sees the field again. His last NIU pass is a 70 yard TD. Weird.

RE: Congratulations To Santacantarina
Great summary, Djud. I think the SDSU game was the tipping point for RC. Santa had the bad pick 6 that killed a nice drive earlier in the game, and then the terribly underthrown ball to the corner of the end zone near the end of the game that was also picked off. (Of course, one could argue we never should have stopped running the ball on that drive. Even the SDSU fans we were surrounded by looked at us and basically said, "They were running it down our throats. Why'd they throw it?") The KSU game conditions were terrible, but it looked like he couldn't grip the ball and that seemed to be that. Older brother was a heck of a player for the Huskies. Great family. It's too bad it didn't work out. I think Santa could have been a really good QB for us had his leash been a little longer. I hope he is a star for SEMS. Like you said, time to move on and get behind Childers 100%. This season has the potential to be special!

Santa is gonna tear it up if they have any decent WR/TE options.

Yea, you don't see that very often. It's amazing how well he did on the deep throws though.
