A Player easy to root for
Didn’t want to put the name in the title because 100 people would blast me for an injury jinx or something like that.

I’m hoping Cardon Johnson has a tremendous final season with the Dukes. He has suffered 2 season ending injuries while at JMU. He also missed 2/3 of his senior high school season in Bad News, VA which was part of the reason he ended up at JMU.
And yet he has persevered through all of that.

Coach Houston said he looks better than ever.
That is high praise considering that Cardon has the highest YPC of any JMU player ever. 6.7 yards per carry with 300 rushes during his career.

I will be rooting extra hard for him to be great and be healthy. He is due

He looks thirsty this year too. Every single still or video I see of him his eyes are saying "watch the f*** out". I feel bad for opposing players.

RE: A Player easy to root for
It's so rare to see a player (in any sport) at JMU listed as a Gr. Pretty awesome that he's stuck around and, no matter what happens on the field, is continuing his education.

If our O-line is even decent this year, our RB's should have crazy numbers. Go with the hot hand until they need a rest and then bring in another all-conference RB. Our 4th-string RB is a transfer from UCF lol. Even Percy should be able to shred most, if not all, of our opponents.

It's a silly thing, but I, for one, very much appreciate you having done this. With his injury history, the last thing any of us want to see is his name in a thread title with all the implications that come with it.

Fingers and toes crossed Cardon has a healthy year! The depth at running back certainly ensures he shouldn't be overworked at very least.

You are so correct in hoping Cardon has a great year. After what he has persevered through the last two years he certainly deserves it. Will be ROOTIN!! for him and the team all season.

I love watching him run. He's such a great RB and I really hope he'll get the chance to show everyone what he can do.
There were a few articles of players to look out for. While Marshall was on the list (deservedly so), Cardon definitely needed to be there.
I'm really rooting for him and wish him the absolute best. I'm not just saying that because he's a Duke, but because he's a great guy and deserves the chance to play out an entire season healthy.
Our RBs are disgustingly good this year and super excited to see these guys run this year.

AMEN! I believe he is our best running back. He is simply a notch above the others. I would like to see him played sparingly and saved for the playoff stretch. He could be the difference maker.

I’d like to see Cardon get the attention of NFL scouts, and not sure he can do that if he is used “sparingly” and not able to rack up some nice stats this year. But I also wouldn’t want him to be subject to any blowout late game roughness that could risk another injury.

Great player, great person, great family. I wish him a full, injury free and successful season. He should turn a lot of heads this year!

It is just my opinion but for the last two years when he was healthy he was our best running back. Like everyone else I am crossing my fingers.

My opinion too. He was consistently breaking big runs.

Not just your opinion. He is statistically the best RB has ever had.
6.7 YPC is off the charts good.

The Newport News Daily Press had a good article on Cardon Johnson today.
