Which Pairing from the Big 12 Do You Prefer Now:
Which pairings from the Big 12 do you prefer now:
1. Vote for your pairing
2. Post why you chose the pair you did
3. If you don't like the combinations post the one you like.

I picked Oklahoma and Oklahoma St mainly just because I prefer not to have Texas in and I think OK State is the only way we get Oklahoma.
Personally, I would prefer West Virginia over any of these mainly for proximity and to have another similar mid level East team.

RE: Which Pairing from the Big 12 Do You Prefer Now:
OU and Kansas are the hands down easy choice
-2 New markets that also reinforce the DFW and KC markets (maximizing your value per slot)
-2 blue blood national programs that bolster both main men's sports
-Easily splits east/west assuming we don't go divisionless or pods

Oklahoma, Kansas
Reasons: great basketball, 1 AAU, to spite Texas

Texas and Oklahoma are the most valuable combo.
Getting those 2 at 16 would be difficult, but these are the heavyweights.

I picked the pair that add the most revenue and content value, Texas and Oklahoma.
Although I consider Texas and Texas Tech to be more likely or Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
The second most profitable pairing would be Texas and Kansas.
I like Oklahoma and Kansas as a pairing but don't see that pairing as likely.

OU and Texas
Returns the Texas vs Arkansas rivalry and adds Oklahoma to the new schedule while moving Alabama and Auburn to the east

I voted for OU/KU but I don't think it is very likely. OU won't move without at least one of OSU and UT, they can't play both of those games OOC every year.

I think KU could be the real, unexpected linchpin
They move first to the SEC thus giving OU the cover they need, saying the L10 is doomed and there is only one slot available so they can't worry about OSU.

I think having OU and Okie state in a conference is a solid idea. But Arkansas will always want to play Texas.

I went with OU and TCU.
Add one FB power and a team with DFW presence locking up Texas.
Makes the SEC divisions perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

I hope you realize Tech has more of a presence in DFW than TCU.
Have you seen a picture of a 44k sold out stadium in Ft. Worth look empty in Sept and Oct?

Well if it's more wins we want for present conference members then Texas and Kansas might be the pair.

Maybe, but I don't think many SEC fans are interested in going to Lubbock, TX. It is the same reason I didn't choose KU.

Exactly.
SEC teams physically coming to DFW, staying in its hotels, eating at its restaurants, making significant financial contributions to its hospitality industry, THAT accomplishes our goal of making it a SEC town as it gets all the local media behind the SEC too.
Besides moral victory arguments like attendance ring hollow when compared to TCUs success as a program both historically and present
National Titles
Heisman Trophy winners
Davey O'Brien Award
Won the Big 12
Rose Bowl champs
Top 5 winningest program of the past few years
Not many candidates can claim even close to that kind of success

I've always been amazed that UT hasn't accomplished more over the course of their history. Probably the greatest underachiever in all of college sports.

Well ATU they have no motivation to improve. After all, in their minds they are better than everyone else already. But therein lies the immense satisfaction of beating them!

Nothing against Lubbock(I've never been there although I've traveled through West Texas and none of it is a short trip from anywhere else), but I'd much rather go to DFW for an away game. Easier trip and more to do...
TCU is an easy choice for me if it comes down to a competition between them and Tech.

It's why I put that pairing in the poll. T.C.U. and Oklahoma would serve the SEC nicely. But, they wouldn't serve as nicely as UT/OU, or OU/KU, or even UT/KU.
