While I predicted UD would win this game by a couple scores, I said on the CAA Media thread that URI wouldn't finish last. Congrats to URI. HUGE win for them. Biggest win of Jim Fleming's 3 years as HC. URI gets its 1st win against a ranked opponent since 2011 and snaps a 22 game losing streak against ranked opponents.

Rhode Island played us tough well into the 2nd half.
Yeah, I remember. Was there. 7-3 until 7+ minutes in 3rd qtr. 7+ min in 3rd until 7+ min in 4th went from 7-3 to 38-3.

URI was vastly improved last year from the year before, although their record didn't show it. Went from 2-9/1-7 to 3-8/2-6. While Elon was a better team than URI last season, the biggest difference between the 2 teams was that Elon won all their close games (regular season), while URI lost all theirs (lost in 3 OT @ C Mich, lost 24-21 @ Brown, lost 35-34 to Elon).

This seems to be a good week to be an underdog

CAA Week 1 Other Games
Well ****. The caa just got turned on it’s head. We need to be careful that we’re not the next victim.

UD made the mistake of overlooking URI. URI’s defense played surprisingly well.

UD is going to be absolutely taken to the woodshed in Fargo in a few weeks. It’ll be a miracle to only lose by 4 TDs right now.

Wake Forest defeated Tulane 23-17 in overtime in NOLA. That Willie Fritz is a heckuva head coach. He's in his 3rd season. Perhaps one more year at a tough school to win (very high academic standards) and he'll have them in the postseason. Then again, maybe this year.

He is one of many head coaches in the G5 who will look very attractive to P5 programs with openings coming up in the next 2-3 years. Ga Southern lost a good one when he bailed for the Green Wave.

UC-Davis beat San Jose St last night 44-38, the first FCS over FBS this season. SE Louisiana and Kennesaw St got close to knocking off UL-Monroe and Ga State, respectively. Man, that Sun Belt is a great conference, huh?

I would think that gohens would be in major melt down mode right about now.

RE: CAA Week 1 Other Games
UD got lucky this year in that they don't have to face the Dukes. They still have to travel to NDSU, Ticks, UNH, Albany and Stony Brook. They went 7-4 last year in Francis Sawyer's first year as HC. They may have to pull an upset or two to get to 7 wins this year. 7-4 wasn't enough to make the playoffs a year ago.

It's a hot mess for sure. The old folks are selling their NDSU tickets, abandoning hope for 2019 and proclaiming their team doesn't even deserve to wear the traditional helmets on the field. Utter disdain for their team, staff and players.

Supposedly they had about 1/4 full stadium for game 1. It will likely be a ghost town there the rest of the year.

If you believe Hens fans, they are headed to the CAA cellar for a long time.

Very happy to see both UNH and Delaware take L's last night, good start to CAA action for sure and gives the Dukes a nice little booster before they even take the field.

Anyone know the status of Trevor Knight? Hate to see a kid get hurt like that right out of the gate, hope it's nothing serious.

Knight's injury aside, I thought UNH looked pretty bad overall and Maine looks to be improved, especially their team speed. Maine has two FBS opponents coming up and I think they will beat at least one of them.

It is a shame we don't play them annually. I feel like UD is right up there with W&M as the #2 rival after RU. In fact I have much more hatred toward UD than W&M which is more 'meh' for me.

I feel the same way. I don’t like UD.
