I hesitate to share this because I understand where this thread is likely headed but I still think this is a worthwhile share considering our current and former coaches both make the list.

Where there was once a smoking crater, Mick has given us a solid concrete foundation. Unfortunately, he also poured a solid concrete ceiling, and one that's a bit lower than what many Bearcat fans would prefer.

Didn't follow the link because I knew where it was headed. MC is overpaid and his staff consistently under performs. New arena. What's the next excuse???

The conference will be the next excuse.

Cronin has the floor for his program at an incredibly good place.
Last season he finally achieved the kind of season we need to see for the ceiling in most respects...though the tournament collapse leaves an incredibly bitter taste.
Cronin needs to raise the ceiling for his teams on a more regular basis.

Excellent summary. While many of us have questioned how big a liability the old 5th/3rd was to recruiting, from what we're seeing, recruits will be blown away by the new arena and team areas. Bring them in with 12,000+ in the stands against UCLA or OSU along with a national TV audience and it's a big stage for one of the most tradition rich universities in all of college basketall.

But even if we start loading our classes with 4 and 5 stars, would our staff be able to capitalize on the increased talent level? I'm not sure.

as long as mick didn't just pull last year outta his defecation zone, i'll continue to be moderately happy. he's most likely doing more than any coach could have done in his situation

Wait, I thought this was underappreciated. Well, if it's underperforming, then I agree Marvin & Mick belong on the list.

We all know you despise Mick, but this is actually a great point.

While many fans (such as yourself) show displeasure for him and his brand of basketball - in the case of some, to the point where they pine for Huggins' return - Mick is fully appreciated where it counts; his bank account. It's an appropriately different angle from where to approach the subject.

Not true. I am just frustrated with the lack of our programs progress (both recruiting & results) while many on here continue to heap praise on MC & his staff. If I "despised" Mick I would not have been a season ticket holder for his entire tenure including the upcoming season.

I am not Mick's biggest fan, and I was not really much of a fan during the Huggins years. I only went to one Basketball game while I was at school. I just find his brand of basketball so boring.

I would rather see a lot more offense, and the more I watch basketball the more I think that Defense does not win in the tournament. I just wish we had some flash and personality outside of defense. Other schools seem to be able to find great talent every year playing in worse conferences than the AAC.

to put it into terms of a sport I understand... It often looks and feels like the Cats are running the double wing while everyone else is running the spread.

I cannot think of anyone pining for Huggs return. The return of that level of success-yes, but not the man himself. This is a Cincinnati media/Lance/Ken Broo red herring. If Mick had deep runs in March and won the conf more than once a decade, no one would care he talks down to the fans, makes excuses or makes the amount he does.
