Why Your Team will Win/Lose in Week 1

But Coogin' It is a very real occurrence for UH. UH could lose the game in some kind of spectacular six turnovers kind of way.

You mean like the 2007 Rice@USM ESPN game?

MT wins because Li'l Stock plays a Perfect Game at Dudley Field, and we shut down VU's Offense, and we establish a running game. Vandy refuses to ever schedule MT again!02-13-banana
MT loses because L'il Stock throws 2 picks, gets sacked 3 times, and our Oline and Dline get slobber knocked in the trenches. Vandy announces renewal of the series!03-weeping

Why we might win: Singletary goes off for 200 yards and 4 TDs versus a Big-12 defense. The QB we start turns out to be an improvement. FAU's unheralded defense (returning 10 starters from last year's team) holds up for 4 quarters.

Why we might lose: Oklahoma is bigger, deeper, sligthly more talented than us. And they are at home. Also, they use running attack to their full advantage as FAU may be a little soft defensively against the run.

Slightly?

Same as Tech vs Mississippi State or USM vs Florida State last year, the size and speed of OU will be noticeable.

That’s not to say a less talented team can’t win because it happens all the time, but make no mistake OU is much more physically talented than Florida Atlantic

Rice hosting Houston

Win:
Houston continues their post-Hermann slide.
They coog it.
Providential rain bands that appear only when UH is on offense (like Texas '94).
PVAM is actually really really good and that's why we looked weak.

Lose:
We have no secondary.
Tradition.

True. FSU was just so much better. I wish someone else in our conference would have gotten that bowl. We got embarrassed.

Southern Miss will win because the opponent is a SWAC (FCS) team that is not very good.

Southern Miss will only lose if Murphy's Law takes place for the entire 4 qtrs.

Everybody wants the flashy P5 opponent for the off chance that you pull the upset, but the reality is no one wants to jump in front of that steamroller. That was a good team and no one in CUSA was going to beat them. FAU made the most sense to play up the Florida angle and they were the best CUSA team last year and might have had extra motivation. I don't think Lane would have risked going out like that though.

ODU wins (42-20) because a 18 year old QB has a year of starts under his belt, with an experienced OL and his best WR back. Liberty was a bad 6-5 FCS team LY and our DL will outweigh them at every position.

ODU loses (10-7) if the 18 year old QB continues to have butter-fingered WR and little TE help

I think you're shortchanging OU by invoking last year's Miss State and FSU squads personally...
