Former QB Ben Mauk On His Time at UC
Some fun insights from Ben Mauk on his time at UC, including Brian Kelly, best moments, and where he's at now.

I loved Mauk. He was great for us and helped elevate the program to the BCS years! Always regretted that he didnt get that 6th year

One-on-one with Ben Mauk

I was just rereading "Bearcats Rising," which spent a lot of time looking at the Mauk/Kelly years. It was special having Mauk here.

That being said, I don't remember Brian Kelly nearly as warmly as most seem to do. It was a helluva ride, but I will always hate how it ended. And, rereading "Bearcats Rising," I will always appreciate Dustin Grutza for putting up with repeatedly losing his job and still working his ass off to keep coming back. As much talent as Ben Mauk had and brought to the table, Grutza had heart.

But I'm glad that Ben came to UC and that he'll always be a Bearcat!

I agree with that sentiment. I always respected Grutza! Wasn't the best QB but was very tough and seemed (from afar) to work hard! The injury against Oklahoma was very sad

2007-2009 UC football was my 3 favorite years as a sports fan. I don't care how it ended I'll always celebrate BK for his part in that run. Loved Mauk and what he brought to the team that year. Talk about toughness. Seemed like he was struggling all year with injury but every time he was on the field he made plays.

Mauk was a gamer. really fun to watch.
BK left badly but I really appreciate how he could take what he had and come up with offensive schemes to score points.
Most exciting time as a UC football fan. Pretty much the pinnacle.
Hope I see it again in my lifetime. If not I'm glad I spent the dough and went to the Sugar and Orange Bowls.

Met Grutza's parents at a football game. Really nice people and honestly Mrs. Grutza was pretty hot looking.

Still remember Mauk trying to run around on bad legs leading UC over USM in the PJ Bowl.

Ben was one of the most fun quarterbacks to watch in his high school career up at Kenton. Wish we could have gotten him for four years at UC.
