RE: 2018 College Football Season Thread
I thought the article linked below was a good primer for the season. Anyone have any thoughts on the CFP participants? Alabama and who else? Also, K State's Bill Snyder still coaching at 79...

Quote:Somebody, please just snap a football.

It seems like a relentless wave of controversy, scandal, even death, followed us at every turn in the offseason.

Now it's finally time to play -- and speculate. Pencil in Alabama and Clemson already? Is the game's best player a defender? Does the Pac-12 have a chance?

College football needs to start celebrating itself after this troubling offseason. The sport is one year short of turning 150. Believe me, you'll read, hear and watch enough about that leading up to Nov. 6, 2019.

For now, here are 18 things you need to keep an eye on ahead the 2018 season.

I still refuse to watch the CFP in its current structure. Its a complete joke and I would much prefer to go back to the BCS system. Take the top 2 SEC teams, maybe Ohio State and maybe Clemson... same boring teams, and add in the fact the conferences again will be irrelevant as Alabama or someone will sit at home.

For me, football season is over as soon as the Bearcats finish their last game. The whole CFP system is just a corrupt charade to prop up a handful of the same bloated programs every year.

I didn't catch any of the Thursday games but UCF opened a can of wup-ass on UConn. They scored 14 points in every quarter winning 56-17. Tulane lost to Wake Forest in OT 23-17.

A couple of games tonight that I may tune in for a time:

Army at Duke 7:00 pm ESPU
Utah St. at Michigan St. 7:00 pm BTN+
San Diego St. at Stanford 9:00 pm FS1
Colorado at Colorado St. 9:30 pm CBSS

I saw about half of UCF v. UCONN and came away unable to decide if UCF is still that good or UCONN is really awful. I guess I'm hoping UCF is better than advertised again this year--the AAC needs a bell cow to stay ranked and keep the conference on the radar nationally.

I can not give any updates now the the storm has started Directv is out now until it is over.

Michigan St scored coming out of the half 27 to 14. But right before the sat went out the QB was cramping up for Michigan St.

U State closed the gap 27-24 but Sparty is about to go 1st and goal with 12 minutes in the game.

A critical play was a long pass for Michigan St on their go ahead drive. It looked like they got away with holding on it to me.
