I am not sure UCLA wins a game. The play a crazy schedule and are not a good team.

Our first decent competition will be this week vs OU. UCLA appears to suck pretty bad, still fun to say we best them in the Rose Bowl.

I am not sure how good Ohio is either. They can score some but their defense is awful. It should give us an idea if UC is looking at 6 or 7 wins this year or something more.

You know, I would expect the #8 team in the country to be more than 8 points better than Ball St. and 5 points better than Vanderbildt.

But, when you're Notre Dame...

Not a good Saturday for the B1G Conference...

It does go to show that it's still all about team performance more than conference jersey patches. I know ardent fans of lower division B10 teams and they have convinced themselves that conference membership means everything and they are appalled when Troy State or Akron humbles a fellow conference member's squad.

Tub's provided great examples of this: beating down Purdue twice and Rutgers in their transition year, while failing to build upon a decade long legacy of success he inherited at UC.

While UC's opponents to date only have one collective win, it's hard not to be bullish on this team with they way they hit and tackle on defense and power rush the ball. Last night was relaxing and enjoyable on many levels. We'll see if Ohio can find and exploit weaknesses on this team, but until any team does, I'll continue to look at the world of college football 2018 through rose colored glasses.

I never got what all the hubbub was about Ohio. Lotta people saw this game as a clear L for us.

I think they'll play us well, and we'll learn some more about the quality of this year's team, however I think we win this one relatively easy. I don't think we play a tough game until Tulane, and/ or Temple at the latest. My guess would be Temple would be our first L. Hope I'm wrong!

Things get real after that.

They were good last year with a lot of guys back. And we sucked. Through three weeks things obviously look a bit different.

Eventually they play a real team and get exposed.

That's embarrassing for Purdue. They lost to Northwestern at home.

Turnovers by Tulsa has given Temple a likely win.

Watched part of the game. Neither team impressed me much. The Tulsa turnovers were pretty bad - not necessarily great defense from Temple.

The stadium really looked empty.

They had to tarp their own student section...that was shocking to me.

Temple football was booted from the old Big East, partly because its attendance was so embarrassingly bad. The Owls were finally invited back just in time for the conference to implode.

They did make some headway with excellent teams and headliner opponents in recent years but history is definitely against urban universities filling off-campus NFL stadia on any consistent basis.

Just more evidence of the wisdom of UC leadership in renovating and expanding Nippert and the complete rebuild inside the four walls of Shoemaker. Great facilities are always an asset. And if the B12 or ACC comes calling, playing in these venues on campus is a distinct competitive advantage for UC.
