I'd give anything to be in a league where ALL schools recognized how important this sport is.

College baseball barely matters. Just because the SEC schools care and happen to have more money than God doesn't mean that's changed. I watch college basketball despite A-State fluctuating between kinda bad and really bad, and became a college football fan despite growing up with 90s A-State football. College baseball just doesn't rate on a national level, and barely rates on a very regional level.

The average sports fan has some idea of what's going on with college football and basketball. College baseball? They might hear about it if something weird like Fresno State or Coastal Carolina are playing for the title. Otherwise, it's a niche sport.

App not being very good in baseball has nothing to do with coddling college athletes regardless of sport. I'm sorry but 19 year old kids don't need to be pampered in facilities like Oregon's Football Performance Center. High-end finishes and materials from around the world, televisions embedded in bathroom mirrors, ventilated lockers, magic shelves in lockers that recharge mobile devices, walnut wood furniture covered in Ferrari leather and Spanish-made foosball tables.

Facilities like UK’s new baseball facilities is why it’s better for kids to play baseball in college instead of signing that minor league contract out of high school. Better facilities, better travel, better food, and sometimes, better coaching.

As big of a fan of college baseball I am, until the day scholarship allotments change from 11.6 to 35 scholarships. If I had a son who had the opportunity to go pro, I would make sure he went pro. It’s a no brainer, you can always use the money to go to school after.

That’s great if he is a prodigy and can get a major league contract. If he is signing a rookie league or minor league contract, let that kid go to school. If he is making the grade, there are academic scholarships that help fill out the rest of team.

But I do agree, it’s dumb that there are not more scholarships for baseball.

if baseball scholarships were to be increased , to whatever number, say 22, i imagine softball would need to equally increase for title iv . does a increase like that cause more harm than good for non p5 conferences? or is the extra cost to the schools just paper money anyway, so it wont matter?

Already softball can offer 12 scholarships while baseball is only 11.5. Explain why that is ok.

Cause football has 85 men's scholarships and those have to be offset with more women's to satisfy Title IX requirements?

The same reason WBB gives 15 grants and MBB 13. Title IX.
