good lord. What on earth was the camera guy doing?

Also some of the comments are brutal. We have a long way to go towards fixing perception

Quote:This camera work is exactly what Rice deserves

Quote:In fairness what was worse that camera shot or the fact Rice needed a last second FG to beat Prairie view??

Watching the ESPN+ replay. At about the 7 minute mark in the 4Q, ESPN showed the score as Rice 28 - PVAM 0. Too bad that wasn't the real score.

ESPN+ presentation definitely needs work. As does the officiating.

RE: ESPN camera work at the end of the PV game
In addition to the spotty camera work, the two announcers also left a lot to be desired. I watched the entire game, and they frequently would get so involved in a topic they were discussing that they would forget to follow the action on the field. Several penalties were called with no mention from the announcers until the next play had been run. Sometimes they were so involved discussing a prior play they said nothing about the current play until it was over. The worst example was in the third quarter when PV had the 27 yard touchdown run. The two announcers were so involved in discussing the replay of the prior play that they missed the start of the TD play and didn't even see that the PV running back was going to score until he was at the goal line.

That whole ESPN game crew definitely needs a lot of work.

I'd place the camera work as probably a problem with the production truck and not the cameraman, although he probably zoomed too far out. Probably a case of being late on getting proper framing from the opposite end zone (that's the cameraman's fault), that cameraman being told to correct it, and then the production truck realizing the kick is starting and naturally kicking to that endzone view, but that cameraman wasn't set up yet with the right shot. Unfortunately, it's the wrong way for the sports fan to learn about Rice's win, in part because it highlighted how tight it actually was against an FCS team. Not a good impression about Rice football.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rice takes the #1 position in ESPN's Bottom 10 after this performance. Considering Rice was favored by 21 points, this was a bad win.

Bottom 10 has one rule. Win and you get a week off.

Double check the rule. Are you sure it still applies given the I-AA opponent and that we were one of only four games being played this week?

I agree, we should be #1 on that list this week. BUT we will play our way OFF that chart by midseason.

I would also wager there won't be an update this week since there were so few games. Wednesday's column was preseason. Next weekend is week one. After the Houston game we'll know if we'll be #1 after the first weekend.

I predict if we were to beat Houston we would be off that list.

The biggest improvement is supposed to be between the first and second game, right? If we beat Houston, I would guess that we might set an all-time record for that improvement.

Well there is no chance the team is over confident at this point. Bottom line is Bloomgren can point to the fact that the team executed down the stretch to win the game.

The comments were from some salty UH fans. Hilarious how much real estate we seem to occupy in their heads, even when we can't stay within 30 point of them.
