These ranking to me are misleading due to the "Allocated" funds. It's amazing how much some of the other schools depend on student fees and money from the school itself. Ours is the lowest in the conference at around 36%.

ODU's numbers are inflated a little bit by state laws for athletics accounting. We have things included in our athletic budget that most don't. Take those out and our overall budget goes down but so does our subsidy. In JMU's FBS feasibility study several years ago they pegged the number for them at around 7 million I think. Looking at our financial statements compared to theirs those categories don't seem to be quite as high for us but you can only glean so much. Comparing these figures isn't apples to apples but it's safe to say that we still get a good bit more money from our students than USM.
Let's not forget the qty of students. I know there was mud slung at FAU, maybe rightfully so, I don't know. But, USM and FAU could have the same student fee, but the result would be 2x USM because of FAU enrollment being so much higher.
