A Houston, Texas police officer was involved in an altercation with a young man who was suspected of aggravated robbery and shooting.

Yet, instead of attempting to help the situation, bystanders stood by and recorded the struggle.

The police officer originally pulled over Davon Shavelle Miller due to his car being connected to a crime. However, Miller ran away, and the officer chased him down.

A video was posted to Facebook shortly after the officer tackled him and shows Miller struggling and screaming.

“He's trying to kill me!” Miller yelled throughout the video.

However, Joe Gamaldi, president of the Houston Police Officers' Union, claims that Miller's actions were very aggressive.

“This guy is absolutely a threat,“ said Gamaldi to a local news station. ”He had a pistol in his car that his girlfriend actually wrapped in a towel and threw it in the bushes while our officer (was) fighting with him. Not only that — you watch the video. He’s grabbing our officer’s gun."

While one bystander helped the officer during the situation, a woman dressed as a security guard walked around the altercation and continued to film.

“Help me!” the officer yelled. “Stop f*****g filming and help me!”

Miller has been charged with a felony of disarming a police officer for grabbing the officer's gun.

i don't know what the protocol is, i feel it's uncouth for a civil servant to ask for a civilian to put their life in danger

if this man was so dangerous, why'd he let him get so close? afraid of the backlash? all things considered, i'd at least call 9/11

A disgusting indictment on society when people would rather gawk instead of helping a cop subdue a violent perp.

If asked, I would be honored to jump on the perp and punch him in the temple bare knuckles. It would have relieved a LOT of work related stress.

Yea, I agree. The times in which I would have loved to be recruited by a cop and when presented with an opportunity, they film it with their stupid camera. I know why they did it though. Those people hate cops and were on the perps side.

I worked as a security officer while going to college, as a L2 and then a L3 commissioned officer. The state of Texas gives us the right to arrest people and help law enforcement in any way possible. The actions of the security guard were unsatisfactory and plain disgusting.

Everyone will claim they would jump in to help, and I'm sure some here would. But the vast majority of young people today would have just whipped out their phone and posted it on their twitter.

They are far more concerned with getting likes or followers than helping.

Yea, I agree. The times in which I would have loved to be recruited by a cop and when presented with an opportunity, they film it with their stupid camera. I know why they did it though. Those people hate cops and were on the perps side.

Yep. That stupid security guard would rather the situation blow up and get out of control with someone shot instead of try and deescalate the situation. This country is so far down the shitter it's crazy.

For many, the money and fame in taking the video is more important than helping the officer.

I don't think the cop was asking for bystander help. The person that the cop asks for help looks like she has a police uniform on. She shouldn't be filming when the thug is trying to grab the cop's gun. She needs to have a talkin' to for sure.

The other people out there are filming and telling the guy to stop resisting. Good on them.

that was the security officer that you are talking about, she since has been fired from her job.

If the officer had ask me for help, I would have. Otherwise I would be filming the people filming the incident.

Your compassion for the officer is overwhelming. Well, I have a concealed permit and so my life would not have been in danger by helping the officer. Now the thug that was trying to grab the officers gun, his life might have been in danger. As for people taking video of it, fine with me.

it's sure a dangerous job. it's gotta be every cop's worst nightmare to be beaten by a perp. perhaps the situation does warrant me putting my life in danger. i've never even been in a fight before. i question whether i'd even jump in to help a civilian in a fight. i hope i would

When they pass laws that will prohibit people taking videos of incidents instead of helping it will make people think twice about videoing. There's good samaritan laws already in the books and this kind of crap (videoing) should stop.
