People didn't think that New York was a target for hurricanes, either. They didn't have one for 30 years, then Sandy came along.

NYC had 2 Category 3 hurricanes hit in the 20th century (1938 and 1954). Sandy was just a Category 1 by the time it reached NYC.

Wasn't asking that.

I'm one of those guys in the bar watching the weather channel cause I actually consider myself a bit of a waterman. Hawai'i included.

Was New York mentioned in this story?

Simple ???, is Hawai'i a frequent target of these storms? I don't recall so.

But, may be wrong. Asking.
Kauai has been hit by Iniki, a Category 4 storm in 1992.

But most of Hawai’i has been spared, but often been threatened.

Yep, this is getting very ominous...

The Ring of Fire has caused a number of devastating of earthquakes over the years and is where two of the earth’s huge tectonic plates meet.

It is formed of a string of 452 volcanoes and sites of high seismic activity that encircle the Pacific Ocean.

Heard on the radio that hurricane season in the caribbean and gulf should quiet this season due
to large scale African dust and sand being swept into the air. Also if you live in the South and have seen
some strange sunsets (very colorful) that is the sand up in the air.
