Trudeau Calls Elderly Woman Racist, Questioning Him About Spending $146M on Illegals
Quote:One of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's constituents wanted to know why he has been spending millions on undocumented immigrants in Canada. Instead of answering the question, he just called the woman racist.
According to the National Post, Canada has seen a steep rise in the number of asylum seekers trying to enter the country. The nation has seen the number of people arriving in the country illegally increase by 128 percent.
Not all Canadians were thrilled to be spending tax dollars on noncitizens. One such Canadian, Diane Blain, confronted Trudeau about the spending.
“I want to know when you are going to refund the $146 million we paid for your illegal immigrants,” Blain demanded.
This question didn't sit well with Trudeau. Instead of discussing policy, Trudeau called Blain racist, saying, “Your racism doesn't have a place here.”
According to a transcript of the full encounter gathered by CBC, the original question asked by Blain was, “When will you give back the $146 million to Quebec? I'd like your response. I'm a senior, and I'd like a response.”
Trudeau responded to her question by discussing his policies on seniors.
“That's not what I asked you,” Blain responded. “We need the $146 million for Quebecers.”
Trudeau responded to this by discussing his policies for young Canadians, and Blain asked the question again.
“Madam, one of the things that is important, madam, in politics is to listen,” Trudeau said. “My friends, it is listening that counts. We are in dialogue.”
Blain continued to demand an answer, and Trudeau shot back.
“This intolerance regarding immigrants does not have a place in Canada,” he said. “This intolerance of diversity, you do not have a place here.”
Trudeau continued:
“Madam, Canada was built by waves of immigration that were welcomed by the First Nations, who showed us how to build a strong society, and the people who come here, generation after generation to build stronger communities, this is what makes us stronger as a country, and madam, your intolerance does not have a place here.”
Blain fired back at Trudeau, asking if he is tolerant of the white French Canadians.
“Yes, madam, I am tolerant of all perspectives,” the prime minister answered. “It is you, madam, who is intolerant, and you don't have a place in this beautiful gathering of Liberals. Thank you, friends.”
Shortly after this back-and-forth, Blain was grabbed by security and forced to leave. She was accused of making threats, but according to the CBC's transcript, no threats were made.
After some blowback for his handling of the situation, Trudeau doubled down, promising to call out “hate speech," adding that there is "room for reasonable debate [...] but hiding behind half-truths and torquing up fears is something that I, and our government, will always call out.”
