RE: Mighty sound of the South completes band camp for 2018
First, the reason they might not be going to Missouri is how much our school would have to pay for them to go.
Second, to give mostly under 20 year olds too much time in NOLA doesn't sound like a great idea to me. I would let them go out Friday after the game. Bet the team doesn't get time to see the sights either.
Lastly, love the MSOS. If I ever win the PowerBall, a BIG chunk of money will go to having scholarships to raise the numbers of the band.

Oh, I and my daughter and my wife all agreed, there will probably be those that DO go out after the game. But the bus leaves in the early a.m. on Sat. Can you imagine the smell of THAT 9 hour drive home? Besides, I want my child to have the opportunity to go get beignets. See Jackson square, see some artists on the street. Not go get ripped on Bourbon St. Which requires some daytime hours, not post 11:00pm.

Honestly think that is to limit expense and time missed from class. The football team is going down to sight see. While I do agree that there is differences in the two, this is still a "business" trip.
I would rather them be able to go at all than go and not be a sight seeing tour.

Speaking from experience, the team only gets there the day before the game and goes straight to the hotel during the season. Now for bowl games, that’s when you get the time to go out and enjoy the city that you’re in.

I hope the team and band get plenty of time to enjoy Tempe AZ.

That would not be a problem if they would just delay departure for home until Sat. about 4 in the afternoon. That would give the students some explore time sat morning. I think it comes down to not wanting to give them another per diem.

Does anyone know how big our band is this year compared to the number of band members over the last 2 years? A big and loud band makes a HUGE difference during games.

Does she know what it was last year? It would be great to see it close to 250.

All I know is, back about 4 or 5 years ago, it was down to about 150.

My oldest is in the MSOS this year, and I was in the MSOS 88-90. It’s been fun to watch him retrace my steps.

As much as I appreciate our band....I lived in Robinson Hall. They practiced right outside on the field between Robinson and the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. We joked about following em home and beating pots and pans by their windows. Hated our band for about 5 years!

One of my favorite things about being on campus is hearing the band practice.
