OT - Trouble in Aggieland
Just saw this from yesterday, and I don't think it has been posted elsewhere on the Parliament.

My prediction is that, like every other NCAA infraction, this either results in no penalty at all, or less likely that they will get a slap on the wrist.

Almost every program in the country could get punished for this, minus the training staff part.

Alleged infractions. Before passing judgment, let's see something more than unsubstantiated claims.
I guess these alleged infractions were never concerning enough for him to bring forward until he wanted a waiver to play immediately.

If I'm reading the story right, these infractions happened this spring ($$$) and summer (injuries).
And yes, this is probably going to be a new reality that teams will have to deal with, and quite probably an unintended consequence of the new transfer rules just recently announced. See this column for a better dissection of what those rules may have wrought in this case (and probably many cases yet to come): https://www.cbssports.com/college-footba...-football/

From SI.com ...
"According to Marchiol, he spent the money on drinks and snacks for recruits but gave none of it to them. He also said he had no record of the purchases and kept the left over money."
No record of the purchases and pocketed the left over cash. How convenient.
If true, he's as guilty as ATM.

Considering the Aggies decided to give Jimbo a contract that has zero protections if they fire him without cause, I have a feeling this goes away rather quickly - however, if true, the medical thing is disturbing. That said, this is nothing compared to sh!tshows at Maryland and Ohio State. In the Maryland case, I think a lot of student athletes are going to feel more empowered to stand up for themselves and teammates with regard to their physical well-being during practices and games - slowly, but surely, the idiot macho “can’t have water until you puke” / Junction Boys culture is going to get weeded out of coaching staffs across America.

You honestly think it doesn’t happen? At Alabama all of the players drove brand new dodge chargers from the same dealership.
Jimbo came from one of the top 5 sleezy programs in the country. At least this is the news that’s breaking instead of Sumlins first couple years with 20+ arrests.
As a tie in to our schedule LSU players are already racking up a nice list of felonies this preseason.

I think the Urban Meyer story is the worst of the bunch. A three-game suspension without pay seems to even less than a slap on the wrist. I think the university should make him do 100 hours in a community service center answering women's crisis hotline calls.

Very interesting article. They should extend this rule to College Basketball.

I'm pretty sure it does apply to basketball, too. This announcement about the scholarship and permission-to-contact component of the change says Division 1 student-athletes, and doesn't limit it to just football players.

That's where the biggest changes are (effective mid-October), so I'd say that his request for immediate eligibility comes under the old rules. But yes, I'm guessing all transfers (like some of the stories about TCU baseball transfers to Rice) will get relief to transfer and get athletic scholarships (if offered) immediately instead of waiting for a release.

Never said that. But it doesn't matter what you or I think happens. It matters what can be proved. And so far, all that's been disclosed is what this player alleges, without corroborating evidence, in his waiver request. And if his allegations are proven true, he has incriminted himself along with ATM.

Seemed like sour grapes from the former player more than anything. Wow, a coach bought some sodas or whatever and someone kept the change. Seemed like a nothing burger, especially considering his foot injury was on a different foot than his preexisting condition.
