Outside UNC, there don’t seem to be as many cheap shots in an FBS game as there are playing a team like the Keydets who are desperate to win at any cost.

Aside from one isolated incident involving Mike Cook in 1997 that was a cheap shot, and from someone who was on the sideline for every VMI game from 1987-1997, I don't recall this being the case whatsoever.

There is truth to what LB has said regarding VMI beyond the Mike Cook late hit and injury. VMI players viewed us a rival, but were overmatched and hadn't won in years, so they sought a tactical edge. There were questionable blocking techniques deployed in their option based offensive scheme. A lot of chop blocking, crack backs, etc. Generally, a lot of holding and other borderline cheap stuff. Hell, they even cut the grass about six inches high to try and slow opponents down. Bottom line, as a defensive player, I was more on guard against injury playing VMI than when playing a pro-style FBS squad.

Virginia Tech Game
VMI: Worst place for visiting fans. Full sun right on us all game.

vs VT: I just saw a prediction that had this game 59-3. No chance Tech scores 8 TDs and a FG.

Yes, and with our general lack of confidence in our placekicking lately, I think that it is more likely that we would score a TD to Dedmon or even a defensive touchdown than it would be for us to rely on our FG kicker (hopefully, though, he, like all the guys, will have the game of his life!).

Did WM sellout its allotment?

Not sure on the allotment, but the Tribe fans are in Section 39, way in the corner and upper deck almost beyond the end zone. Just hoping we don't have massive thunderstorms Saturday.

That weather favors the run, and that JMU team could run. We learned that first hand later in the season. That Dukes team only went 6-5 that year.

Rain chances raised to 90% with some possibilities of very heavy downpours.

RE: Virginia Tech Game
Get the run game going, shorten the game, hang around for a bit, and I don’t see Tech covering the 42 point spread.

Make mistakes and give them short fields, then it’ll be a long wet game and they might hang 50 on us.

I don’t foresee us opening up the playbook and getting too crazy with things unless we’re in the game. I bet we stick with the things our guys know and can execute, and hopefully things open up from there.

I'll take that. Fumble recovery on our 34 is a fine start.

Ugh. That sucks. So, they can celebrate like idiots with coordinated flailing but Parker got an unsportsmanlike conduct call for finger rolling the damn ball?
