MTSU is my sleeper
It doesn't seem like anyone is talking about MTSU as a serious contender to win the East or the conference in general. I don't know a lot about what they return but I do know that experienced QBs are hard to beat. Stockstill is legit and he is going on what, his 6th year?

In the C-USA football stock pick thread, based on pricing, I found MTSU to be the best value there and it makes up the majority of what I purchased. And I felt that way for exactly the reason you state, an experienced and proven QB. Having an experienced and proven QB from Game 1 is so important in college football.

Also, I shorted Marshall (sorry about that) for the same reason but in reverse. Plenty of quality players returning, but an inexperienced and unproven QB. If he doesn't hit the ground running, Marshall could be in for a rough start before settling in later in the season. At 8.50 per share, seemed overvalued to me.

I also bought some USM just because they seem balanced overall and I've always admired what they accomplish in the 'Burg.

RE: MTSU is my sleeper
Raiders have 16 or 17 starters returning. While on paper that might convince some MT has a shot at the championship, the seeming fragility of our QB's body keeps this MT fan, for the most part, away from arguing for the Blue Raiders' chances.

Going back to his senior year of high school, he's only had one season free from injury. Nobody questions his toughness, but whether he can go through an entire season without being injured.

Even if Brent were to get through the season unscathed, the Blue Raiders are going to need some self destruction and bad luck happening to the other contending teams to open a path for the Raiders. I just don't see that happening.

I think if we just wrap Bent in Bubble Wrap; we've got him covered. No injury. No problem. Seriously, I have maintained since the end of last year that if li'l Stock stays healthy all year we win it all. If not, Middle is synonamous with Mediocre.

You don't think that both teammates and the opposite defenders won't be able to keep their hands off him?

I also bought MT this year. Hoping Stock can stay healthy and give the East a run for it's money. If he does stay healthy I think they can hang with FAU and Marshall. Honestly he deserves a good healthy season on his way out. We've all seen what he can do when he is healthy and we have all seen what happens when he's not. It's better for CUSA if he is healthy.
