Our rpi was highly inflated by win total and the fact that we dropped ZERO games in conference to the bottom feeders.
We had no losses in conference to the dregs, the first time I ever remember that happening.
Mark my words, we will get tripped up by one of them this year and our ooc SOS will not be better than 150, I’m willing to bet anything you want on these two facts.
Put up or shut up.
We need to win:
Oregon State
Missouri
Either Kansas State or Syracuse
AND
No bad OOC losses and go 4-1 against VCU, W&M, Richmond, St. Joe's, Northern Iowa
AND finish the conference season 16-2 with no losses to anyone in the bottom half.
And we could still get snubbed.
Bottom line is nobody has ever in history gotten in without at least 7 top 100 wins. We might not end up playing 7 games against the top 100.

That road stretch of Charlotte, UTEP, UTSA is going to get ugly. I think we drop either UTEP or UTSA, but apparently UTSA is a sleeper this year. We'll see.

Thought the same last year until we won those game by an average of something like 40. Bottom line is they aren't very good and we'd have to crap the bed to lose them. UTSA is no sleeper. They may be better than the bottom half, but that is all relative.

That's because we were the host. I think the travel alone is tougher than the opponent who is waiting there to play.

2011-12: 0-5 vs. top 3; 13-0 vs. everyone else
Season ended with no hope of a NIT bid and in CIT quarters.

Sorta happened to ODU the year that Loughton, Dahi & Co when to the NIT Final Four from the CAA.
CUSA could get a second team in. Just hasn't happened since realignment but last year was too close for me to say never. I do agree about OOC wins needing to be very, very good though.
If the bottom tier of the conference isn't a complete dumpster fire, it changes the rank of the conference significantly. The worst I've seen it was #24 out of (32, I think) and last year I think we were in the neighborhood of #15. There is still room to improve.
They would instantly raise the profile of the conference if they could do anything OOC and start winning games. That way the rest of CUSA doesn't get a big penalty when it's time to play the bottom feeders.
Is that whole round robin with the top 6 teams or whatever in affect for this season or was that just all talk?

Top 5 play a round-robin, middle 5 play a round-robin, bottom four play a round-robin with a repeat game, I think.
