Netflix Cancels Michelle Wolf’s Trump Bashing Talk Show
After Less Than Three Months
She can join Kathy Griffin on the rubber tofu circuit.
Quote:Netflix officially pulled the plug on Michelle Wolf‘s talk show The Break with Michelle Wolf.
The comedian made a name for herself earlier this year at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where her monologue received a mix reception, especially for her jokes targeting Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who attended the event. Wolf had previously appeared as a correspondent on The Daily Show and a writer for Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Wolf’s controversial brand of comedy continued at Netflix, which debuted shortly after the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in late May. She compared First Daughter and White House advisor Ivanka Trump to herpes, made a satirical video linking ICE to ISIS while impersonating Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, and celebrated abortions in honor of Independence Day with a parade and marching band.
Her show aired weekly and lasted ten episodes, the last one airing July 29th. Wolf has yet to make a public statement on her show’s cancellation.

It was probably dollar motivated because with most (all) networks it's all about the moola. Only idjits would find her show funny. I'm glad she's out of work maybe it'll change her a bit...not likely but I'm a positive person.

This is truly priceless. Wolf and her people are really upset how they got fired by Netflix. The woman that is the very definition of no class upset how "classless" her firing was done.

She's not funny and hard on the eyes. In truth she just flat out sucks.
I'm surprised Netflix gave them three months.
I do think it's funny they found out they were fired via Twitter. Might be the most humor that show produced.

b/c agenda liberal based humor sucks schmegma.....
RE: Netflix Cancels Michelle Wolf’s Trump Bashing Talk Show
Not being very funny was her biggest downfall. That said, Trump bashing is simply becoming less funny. Its based on different variations of "listen to the stupid plan Trump has---now lets make it look really dumb". That works for a while---but when the "dumb" plans actually turn out to be very effective and when too many of Trumps "dumb" statements turn out to be true---the humor starts to lose it's edge. The fact is---good political humor almost always has real truth at its core. Political humor that doesnt have a real truth at its core--isnt going to be very funny--It just comes off as bitter angry flailing.

Does Netflix itself actually come up with the $$$ to produce these shows? Or are they just agreeing to take someone else’s product and put it on their platform

Netflix pays for the rights to air shows produced by others. Netflix also actually finances and produces original content on its own and placed that self produced content on their site as well. Im not aware of anyone just giving Netflix content for free in exchange for Netflix placing it on their platform. It might happen---but ive never read or heard anything about it.

Netflix probably started out that way but I think they (and Hulu and Amazon Prime with their original content) now are either paying for original product themselves, or else they are paying pretty high distribution rights to become the exclusive home of a product. Once Disney's new streaming product goes online next year, that will be another major player.
I posted this in the other thread earlier too but the Michelle Wolf show wasn't good (neither was/is the Sarah Silverman one on Hulu - I couldn't even tell you if that's still on the air). But I was disappointed they also cancelled the Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale at the same time as the Michelle Wolf show. His show was actually entertaining 90 percent of the time (and only semi-political).
