It’s a “3 + 2” program that you see a lot of upper tier liberal arts schools offer, where you spend 3 years at the LAC and then 2 years at a large engineering program. This allows liberal arts schools to attract students that want to major in engineering but also want a small college environment. These are typically set up where the student ultimately receives 2 bachelor degrees (one from the LAC and another from the engineering school). Furman students in this program can choose between Clemson and Georgia Tech for its offering.

Regardless, I’m just impressed that this kid can play football and study engineering (which is no joke at a place like Clemson) at the same time.

BTW, it’s way more likely that old high school or camp buddies of a school’s player will have “inside information” about that school’s football team than some random guy taking classes in the engineering program. Being friends with a football player at a P5 school is about as random as being friends with an NFL player simply because you live in an NFL town. The large state schools are generally huge cities unto themselves.

Engineering is not a joke anywhere, not even at my real school, which will never be confused with Harvard or even UTSA for that matter. Engineering and nursing students were pretty much the only ones actually studying hard.
