Hard to say. 800 sounds safe, but many factors. Some variables include how many seats each DC member buys, and how many of the allotment go to students. JMU had 1,300 "extra" seats last year in the endzone, and believe all (or nearly all) of those went to students. It will be back to 4,000 this year. I'd guess they will give students at least 500-1000 of those seats.
Hypothetically:
JMU receives 4,000 seats, sells 1,000 of those to students.
Each DC member buys 4 seats (some will buy more, some less)
That would put the cutoff around 750 I think. In practice, I doubt every single person buys 4 though.
JMU has only said 110 points was cutoff last year, and they expect it to be "much higher" this year.
Sure the avg DC member that purchases tickets might buy an average of around 4, but not every DC member buys tickets because they don't make the game for whatever reason.
Last year the cutoff was 110 points/believe around 1200 in ranking.
For reference low 900s ranking last year was low 170s points, which would probably be mid-upper 170s this year.
So worst case scenario think the cutoff could be around 175-180 points/900 ranking, which would be significantly higher than last year's 110 points..

For reference purposes, I am currently ranked 747 with 218 points. Also, won't they take several hundred of the allotted tickets for players and coaches family? Or do those come separately from the 4,000?

Those come out of the school's allotment. The only ones that do not, I THINK, are band/spirit groups.

Nicely done NCAA. Got my email with the code at 1:29 PM and of course found out that they had sold out.
I guess it's my fault for not checking the board first...

As laid out in the championship manual (last year, but this rarely changes), it's 4,000 + 149 + band (350) + cheerleaders (12) + mascot(1). The 149 seats are for the Terrace and Suites (which normally are not sold publically, used for "vip" purposes. It's technically up to the school how they distribute those 4,149 seats.

This. I didn’t get the super secret password until almost 2, logged in and “sold out.”

Last I looked, a few dozen remained in the endzone "hospitality" club section. There is also a small chance they held some seats back for the Saturday "public" sale. Not much seemed to be held last year though.

I'm ranked 876/ 177.5 points. If both JMU & NDSU made the NC, due to last minute donations, people will drop some. Last year I dropped 12 spots in the couple days between the semifinals & ticket requests due.

RE: 2019 Frisco Tickets
Sounds like a real kangaroo operation the NCAA was running. People describing late e-mails, extremely slow website, seats being taken from them when trying to make the purchase, etc. When I've ordered tickets for sporting events before where you pick your seats, I've clicked on the seats and been given x number of minutes (usually 10-15) to complete the purchase. I've never had a case of someone else purchasing the seats in those # of minutes. I assumed it was common practice that once you clicked on the particular seats they were unavailable to others as long as you completed your purchase in the allotted time.

Here is the NCAA person in charge to "thank" for this operation.
Jared Kramer
Assistant Director, Championships
He replies to the tickets@ncaa.org email address. Had to straighten out a past mess with them.

I understand why they do it but it's still pretty terrible that capacity is over 20K and only 8K go to the schools in the game.

I think techically its about 9k
4,150 + bands/cheerleaders = about 4.5k per school
That still leaves 11k+ not going to the schools..

Think someone was sleeping at the wheel this year. Last year the emails went out at 6:00am sharp, this year the first emails seemed to go out around 10:40-10:45. My guess is it took them additional time to get the emails out to new folks who weren't on the distro previously.
NCAA is about as competent as govie workers at this stuff. If they didn't outsource the ticketing site, it would likely be even worse.

RE: 2019 Frisco Tickets
Too bad Frisco has the game through the 2019 season/Jan 2020 NC game. The town of Frisco is great, but everything to do with the stadium is piss poor. You've got a game played in:
-inadequate size soccer stadium (that was construction shortened capacity the last 2 seasons to boot, looked like **** on TV in 2016). It needs to be at least a 25k stadium, if not 30K+).
-inadequate scoreboards
-inadequate video board
-inadequate concessions
-piss poor ticketing operation
Hopefully next year when new bids go out someone with a bigger/better stadium bids on hosting.

That's assuming they open it for bidding. Unless they receive a lot of feedback that the location needs to move, they will likely "extend" it again without bidding. They've done this the past two times. My recollection is the ADs on the committee deciding this are from smaller schools, and wouldn't see a need for a larger venue.

RE: 2019 Frisco Tickets
What an absolute dumpster fire of a process. It isn't even a good facility. They may as well just host it at an FCS school's stadium. Who gives a **** if it's neutral if there's no seats?
How terrible is your ticket site design that another fan can take a ticket out from under you. Why is it not available for X number of minutes? That's how every other ticketing site in the world works, including JMU's.
