I sure hope they clean house at UH soon

All ex-players have an open invitation to attend practice. Applewhite allowed a father, who is a former player and former UH head coach, to watch his son (also a former player) coach a closed practice. Art will never coach a college team again. The only job he could get is a Italian football team---so I dont expect we'll be seeing much of him this year. People these days need to chill. Letting him watch his son is not in any way an indication we are fine with covering up rape. Thats ridiculous. He still Kendal's dad and Applewhite believes in strong families. 04-cheers

Not only is Art an ex-UH player, his parents died travelling to watch him play at UH. As far as I'm concerned, he can visit the school and his son any time he wants.

But i dont want him coaching UH in any way. Dont even want him making a football speech to the players like Mack Brown recently did.

Thats kinda the way I feel. I would treat him decently and give him the same privelidges any ex-player or ex-coach has. I would not give him anything above and beyond that. Just because Art didnt do the right thing at Baylor doesnt mean we cant do the right thing. Frankly, the dude pretty much pulled the UH program out of the fire when we were running on a shoestring budget and fumes. Regardless of what happened at Baylor and the crappy way he left UH--we will always owe Art a debt of grattitude for getting the program back on track and for getting folks back in the stadium after one of the darkest periods of Coog football history.

Art should never be in a position of authority as he clearly did not use proper judgement in reporting/kicking rapists off his team. However, since he is not a rapist himself, I see no problem in him showing up in an advisory capacity, not to mentor young men, but to aid the coaching staff.

I don't see anything wrong when son is been visited by his father... I mean is not as if Briles senior is gunning for a football position with Houston again.

Maybe this is a good place (this thread) to poll you guys about something I have been thinking about lately... If Art Briles needs a job, why shouldn't he work in coaching? Not him in particular, but in a general sense, these "me-too" episodes have been popping up a lot lately, and it has caused me to question the degree of punishment in our modern day society. For instance, I really DO understand the Jo Pa/ Sandusky deal, and even this Art Briles thing - the kids and all... But how about this Urban Meyer issue? Are we really saying we as a society need to FIRE a person if he knows about a domestic violence issue that may have only happened to a friend/co-worker of his once or twice over a 10 year period? Or any time period/frequency... whatever. Is it HIS responsibility to report this hearsay to the cops? I mean, let's safely assume that Meyer never personally witnessed abuse. Look at your self as an example. Do you know of ANYONE you suspect to be an abuser? If you don't report him/her, you will LOSE YOUR JOB???? People need jobs. Ex cons need jobs.

Am I making any sense?

I'll assume that you are saying that tongue and cheek, but I do want to guard against that in my personal life.

This is more than a little disingenuous. AB is not just another spectator/alumni/interested parent. His presence at practice brings national attention (not the good kind). If he wants to come to the games to support his son, fine. Anything more than that probably isn't isn't a good idea.
