Just typing it in the subject line sounds like a bowl game.

We've been in CUSA together for how long, and have never had one regular season match up have we?

We haven’t played UTEP since 2010.

Nope, not once. It's a shame because I was hoping we would have played at least a couple times by now in the regular season.

It seems like we aren't in the same conference for FB - that championship game a few years ago was a good one 04-cheers

I agree, I’d be interested to play LaTech and UTEP sometime. What conference are you all in these days?

I don't care as long as we get to keep playing So Miss every year.

The cross division scheduling in this conference is stupid. Too many teams have not played each other yet because of the dumb home and home thing. It was cool to host ODU and go to FAU for UNT last year. Great. 2 new opponents please. Im not going to cry if we dont get to host FAU immediately the following year. Let us play everybody in the East once and then we can flip the location from last time. We still have never played Charlotte. Ever.

RE: I always thought there'd be a nice East/West Rivalry in Marshall/La Tech...
This is why 14 teams are too many and why some ACC teams have actually started scheduling conference mates for "non conference" games. Sorry, but numbers matter, geography matters, and similarities in mission and academics matter. The SEC is what it is, IMO, because the schools are fairly well clustered and similar. Same for the ACC and Big Ten pre expansion and still mostly post expansion. The Big 12 and PAC 12 are kind of jacked up with some of the same issues we have with geography and the Big 12 also has academic non conformity.

We really need one more round of realignment at the G5 level so that real regional rivalries can be built to help fuel attendance.

How about this, Let's have CUSA Championship rematch this year.
But this time Tech wont have 6 defensive starter suspended and Tech wins!

Has C-USA ever addressed the cross over scheduling issue? I understand why Southern Miss is our every year cross over, but why will we have played UTSA 3 times since 2013?

No offense to UTSA.

It’s been disappointing. I sure would’ve thought we would’ve had Marshall in our home schedule by now.

I agree with this. Go through them all then switch h&h.

UAB screwed things up for a few years. I think we've played every west team at least once except UAB but we were playing three western teams a year for a couple years and missing an eastern team

RE: I always thought there'd be a nice East/West Rivalry in Marshall/La Tech...
It doesn't make any sense that LA Tech and Marshall don't play each other in regular season. It's two of CUSA's best brands. I know some folks get offended when we mention conference "brands", but you could really argue that LA Tech is the best brand in the West, and equally argue that Marshall is the best brand in the East. But they never play each other.

That's just dumb. Imagine if the USC Trojans never played UCLA in the Pac 12, Texas never played OU in the Big XII, Ohio St never played Michigan in the Big 10, or BAMA never played LSU or Auburn. It would be foolish and would hurt the conference branding.

Umm if Southern Miss is Nike, La Tech is Puma.

I'm not for permanent crossovers. We only have two cross-division games a year. With 2 a year and 7 teams in the other division you should see each every 4 years. As we're doing it now it's every seven years.

RE: I always thought there'd be a nice East/West Rivalry in Marshall/La Tech...
1. 14 teams is too many, that's the underlying problem here.
2. Permanent cross-over games would be bad, because then you'd really never play some of the other teams (and outside of everyone wanting Marshall maybe there aren't really any good reasons to do them).
3. UAB is the reason for the delay in playing each other. They screwed up the schedule for 2 years and the conference seems to have other priorities than making sure we cycled through the other division teams quickly as they dealt with that (I might have focused more on this myself).
4. According to the CUSA website "The conference is in the second year of a rotation between cross-division opponents that will rotate every two years until 2024, when each school has played every opponent in the opposite division once home and away." So while I know posters here keep talking about some agreement between USM and Marshall, I'd be interested in seeing that in print somewhere - it really just looks like they had a rotation set up, and then there was the slight reshuffle with WKU for Tulsa that threw it off, and then the UAB thing screwed it up again. Next year we'll all get 2 new cross-divisional games (and we'll get those same two teams the next year) then we rotate again, etc.
5. 14 is too many teams. After Tech plays WKU and FAU this season (it's only a coincidence that we've played WKU a lot so far in CUSA) we won't see either again in the regular season until 2023. But since we have an odd number of teams per division, we won't see one of those two teams again until 2025. So potentially, we will have played against WKU six times in 5 years (or 5 regular seasons in a row) and then we won't play them again in the regular season for 6 years.

Right?

Are you sure about that? LA Tech is entering its 6th year in CUSA, and we've never played Marshall in regular season, and as far as I know, we're still not scheduled to play 'em.
