RE: How Memphis V Kentucky WILL become CBBs MEGA RIVALRY.....
Some Bruins remember. They are a prideful bunch. I happened to fly to Memphis for the football game on the same plane with quite a few UCLA fans ( guys 45-60 )who brought their B.B. loss up.
The one sitting next to me was still upsetz lol

I was riding my mini bike....two older kids wanted to ride it....I couldn't let them ride it, If my dad saw them ride it, he would kill me....I was too far away from the apartment to ask him....So will i was holding/protecting the bike, One guy grabbed and pull my shirt over my head and they proceeded to beat on me....What was I to do???? Worst beating EVER, outside of my grandma beating the shiitake outta me for cussing on the church grounds as a shorty! But hey, I remember!!!!

They're probably still pissed Howland took 'em to four FF in a row and came home with nothing.

lol but I don’t think they expected him to win the conference title the year they fired him.
Those guys were nervous about us. A loss against Memphis would set the ‘wrong’ tone for their whole Football season, so I was informed.
And I have to say the tone was mournful on the plane home.
Dead silence.

Personally i do not give a rat's ass about the UK program or that lying SOB which runs it today.
Have no desire to have series or any form of rivalry with them.

It will be the HOTTEST college basketball rivalry of all time, between teams that will never play each other, with one fan considering it a rivalry.
There has been no rivalry and never will be a rivalry between these two schools.
One is a blue blood with 8 National Titles who can get a "made for TV" game with other Blue Bloods with a phone call.
The other is Memphis.
People outside of our city barely remember that Cal even coached here. And if they do, they think he left "sometime in the early 2000s".
Wait 2 or 3 years. Give us a little success. Even better, to start this off, I'm sure the selection committee would love to have the two teams meet in the tournament for a trip to say, the final four?!?!?

They have no incentive
And Cal doesn't want to be booed when he comes back to Memphis.
That bridge was burnt when we uninvited him from a homecoming a couple of years ago. That was very personal. No need to start a Cal argument cause no one wins. He wouldn’t come back now if we had the 2006 team with him-his favorite team BTW.
Rod Hampton is the father and coach of five-star 2020 recruit R.J. Hampton, and so the answer he gave when asked about Memphis resonated more than the 24 points R.J. scored last Saturday or the Under Armour Association cameras following his every move during the first weekend of college basketball’s July evaluation period.
“They know how to talk to the kids,” Rod Hampton said. “They’re not too far removed from the league, and these guys want to get to the league.”
If the first few months of Penny Hardaway’s tenure at Memphis have proven anything, it’s that his NBA pitch is hitting home with recruits.

RE: How Memphis V Kentucky WILL become CBBs MEGA RIVALRY.....
Ky and Calapari have nothing to do with the Tigers' coming successes. If we do play them it will probably be in a tournament neutral site. It will be a big game and an emotional game for many Tiger fans (me included). However it will have no more impact on the national perception of the Tigers than any other big win against a comparable program. The revival of the Louisville series with several home and home games would give a huge bump for both programs. The same would go if WVa and the Tigers put together series.

What??? IF you ask Tom Izzo and Michigan State fans, they will remember it as the worst ass kicking the school has taken.

Do you seriously think that UCLA fans won't remember what happened to them the last time they made it to the Final Four? Wow.

Their basketball fans remember it well. Believe that.

This post looks like someone who is trying too hard. That last bit is just fiction.
I travel all over the country and talk to many people. The majority of folks that live outside the south that i've talked with over the years don't really care about college sports, they are pro fans. 99% of the people I talk to have no idea what conference Memphis plays in, who the coach(es) were since Cal, or that Memphis was actually really good historically in basketball prior to Cal. Not trying too hard, just stating my personal experiences the last 5-6 years.
It doesn't mean I'm dumping on the program or think it's terrible. My wallet says otherwise. Just stating that to think Kentucky coaches/fans/AD even think about Memphis from a "rivalry" perspective is silly. I assure you, they see their rivals/peers as Duke and Carolina. Go to their message board and see how they talk down about Villanova, UConn, and Louisville. Those programs are "beneath" them and unworthy as rivals.
