I have a few other cool things too. My favorite would have to be my jersey from the very first UAB baseball season.

JBall, where did you get that Great Alaska Shootout belt buckle? (I have one of those too.)
Derrick was a Freshman on Gene's first 1978-79 Team. He graduated from Carver High School. He was stout, about 6'4", weighed around 225. He was a point guard. He transferred after two seasons, I think. Just recently someone said he lives here in Birmingham. I haven't seen him in almost forty years.

RE: What's your prized UAB possession?
The "I Was There" buttons for first basketball game vs Nebraska and against Auburn in football first IA game. Large framed pics of the first Sun Belt champs team in 80-81 season. It has pix of Anchrum, Speer, Jonath Nicholas, Craig Lane and others and a really good team pic of them holding up SB Champs trophy. This pic hung in the athletics department for many years. When they remodeled I guess they just got rid of everything because a guy in Slocomb (near Ala/ Fla line) had it and put it on ebay or some bid site. I'd seen this in the athletics office lots of times when buying tix etc. For Fathers Day my son contacted Mo Finley, my all time favorite Blazer. They worked out a meeting and Mo brought him a basketball from the athletics department and he autographed it and gave me a media guide signed by the entire Sweet Sixteen team that beat Kentucky. Mo and my son put in some effort for that and I love the bball and the media guide!! I have a ton of other stuff but I'll stop ........Ive passed some even better Blazer memorabilia to my son who is a HUGE Blazer as well.

This is a cool idea...I just don’t know how to post pics.
Is there a way, without posting them to some other Internet site first?

Yeah you can take the pic and attach it as a file on a post on here. Or take a pic and email it to yourself and attach the file.

A personalized football for being " honorary coach " at a particularly memorable game----- our first ever win over Sou Miss. There are lots of things that rank almost as high in my collection but that one was probably the most important for me at the time.

Apparently I’m way too dumb to figure this out
On the “New Attachment” box, I choose the file, a little thumbnail of the pic shows up...I click “add attachment”—and nothing useful happens
I dunno

Choose file, (select it), select open, then add attachment.

The filename should show besides the choose file button after you have chosen it.

Frank Sutherland. He had a great personality with or without the Beauregard T. Rooster outfit.

RE: What's your prized UAB possession?
When I was in college I purchased two UAB hats for $15 off of eBay. One I haven't worn and is in pristine condition. The other one is faded green and has seen many a victory and loss, including the win over Kentucky in '07(?) when we played on Louisville's court and when we beat MSU in Starkville.

I've kept my game tickets for the most part and have a lot of memories when I pour over them from time to time. I think my entire t-shirt collection consists of free shirts I received while in college, including the Student Alumni Society shirt I'm wearing from over ten years ago as I type this out. My favorite t-shirt was the homecoming shirt from my senior year when we beat Troy in 2006. Additionally, I have my old green blazer that I wore constantly when serving as USGA president that was bequeathed to me by my dear friend and USGA vice-president. He bought it from a nearby thrift store and it didn't fit him so he passed it along to me.

So many good memories.

What's your prized UAB possession?
Saw this thread when it first went up and meant to post earlier.
Short version of the story, I used to have a hobby called “visit every school in Rice’s conference and buy a t-shirt.” Still have the UAB shirt with the Dragon back from when Rice joined CUSA 2.0.
I gave up the hobby with the last round of conference additions. I got rid of most of the old WAC shirts and most of the CUSA ones, too. Still got that dragon though!
