1 - a 4 year home and home men's basketball deal when Gene Bartow was head coach
2 - was an extensive 10 year contract covering both men's basketball (10 games) and football (4 games) when Watson Brown was AD.
Two things likely ended the second. UAB almost beating UGA in Athens in football and Pat Sullivan recruiting north Georgia and beating Tech out for players.
I don't know the circumstances behind those series. We also canceled an upcoming series with Bama. But hey, we play UAB in ice hockey this season.
While a series in either men's revenue sport between UAB and GA Tech would be great, if playing an Atlanta area team H&H is desirable, a series with GA State appears more "doable" - and more practical. Both schools will have new or newly renovated stadiums downtown in which to play home games.

Last year, too. I'm a UAB grad and work at Georgia Tech and had moved to Atlanta just before the game last year and got pretty excited until I found out that was one of the few GT "home" hockey games in Columbus. Luckily this year it looks like the UAB/GT hockey game is in Cumming (a true "home" game for GT)
