Athletics programs are considered educational programs and activities. There are three basic parts of Title IX as it applies to athletics:

Participation: Title IX requires that women and men be provided equitable opportunities to participate in sports. Title IX does not require institutions to offer identical sports but an equal opportunity to play;

Scholarships: Title IX requires that female and male student-athletes receive athletics scholarship dollars proportional to their participation; and

Other benefits: Title IX requires the equal treatment of female and male student-athletes in the provisions of: (a) equipment and supplies; (b) scheduling of games and practice times; © travel and daily allowance/per diem; (d) access to tutoring; (e) coaching, (f) locker rooms, practice and competitive facilities; (g) medical and training facilities and services; (h) housing and dining facilities and services; (i) publicity and promotions; (j) support services and (k) recruitment of student-athletes.

I wonder if we ever thought about bringing back track & field but on the women's side only? Some of the league schools have pretty good women's track. And the Monarch track program was pretty high level track back in the early 80s.

But where on campus would we find the space for the venue? If it would have meant building the new football field with a track around it I am glad that didn’t happen!

ODU still has a men's and women's club track team, but I don't believe they host any meets. Closest ones are at CNU

RE: Volleyball 2020
The NCAA instituted new National Letter of Intent (NLI) rules this year. Only football and basketball have split signing periods with 'dead times' in between. All other sports have an open signing period for 2019-2020 athletes. It runs from Nov 14, 2018 to Aug 1, 2019. So Coach Chao can sign people immediately. We won't have to wait, if we get commitments, till the historical Spring signing period. Looking forward to getting players signed very soon!!!!!

Football and basketball have the early and standard signing periods. Cannot sign NLIs in between.

Look for him to mix JOCO with a larger freshman to balance out the class. He has already started recruiting.

Selig did say at the press conference that it is a $M3.5 renovation and that it will seat 900 (which is enough IMO).

6-1 outside hitter ! Not a bad start. Now need a 6-3/6-4 middle !

haven't checked but not sure it really matters because women volleyball talent can be developed especially over a 2 year period. She is 6-1 and that is a great start.

I don’t believe that to be completely accurate.

I've looked all over google and can't find a rating site for high school players. 247 sports doesn't seem to follow. Anyone else have any rating info for players?

They don't have one but sometimes you can find who has offered. She has talent based on her videos. She just needs to up her vertical, foot speed, and improve her approach and swing velocity. With better passing and setting she will improve. That comes with a collegiate level strength and conditioning. She plays on a top level club team. This late he is likely looking at low D1 or top D2 commits he can flip and develop.
