I'll miss Col Reb but look forward to our matchup in Houston vs Ole Miss.

Most think Tech will suck this year but the Tx Tech side of NRG is pretty full. I hope Ole Miss fans buy and show up.

Yes. But there is no trademark infringement on animal or fish nicknames now is there? All they need to do is draw a different image of a Mud Cat which is slang for a particular kind of small catfish.

The same thing happened to St. John's (Red men to red storm) and a bunch of other schools. That's when the tree appeared.

I guess technically bullsharks are occasionally spotted in the Mississippi but I like Mudcats a lot better. It at least conjures images of Mississippi

True. They tried to threaten FSU with a bowl ban. FSU said bring it. Even the Seminole Nation supports FSU.

Of course it was Vandiver, but only after they were requested to do so. And remember, they now are the PC people!

I attended a handful of schools with bulldog or avian mascots.

Allow me to say this about Mississippi State's mascot. I'd rather MSU change the mascot to STOCK DOGS (herding dogs or a breed of a herding dog). This ties into their agricultural and beef/dairy mantra. The cow bells become even more pertinent.

This is not a deference to the Georgia bulldogs, but giving MSU a unique, simple, and closer identifying mascot.

As to Ole Miss, they need to stop goofy student body polls about mascot names. Find a name that can be associated with Mississippi. Frankly, Mudcats does sound better than Landsharks.
