FL prosecutor files charges in stand your ground shooting
The people will decide if he was right or wrong

Not admissable in court, but he had threatened drivers 3 times in the past including threatening to shoot someone over another handicap spot 3 months previous. This guy sounds like a bomb that was just waiting to go off and the dumb*** that attacked him lit the fuse.

I probably would've done the same in that prosecutors position. I think its the right call to file manslaughter charges. Thank goodness they didnt go overboard and charge murder. That said, I think it is unlikely that they'll get a conviction if it goes to trial.

Agree that manslaughter appears to be the correct charge, based on the security video.

Disagree about the conviction— I think the Defendant will get nailed for this and serve the max-possible sentence.

From the video perspective at least, once that other dude backed off the situation changed and the CCW holder should not have fired. The other guy was pretty far away by that time.

Yes. The video is quite incriminating here.

Not-relevant (that I can tell) but just FYI: the incident took place in Clearwater, FL. Probably the heaviest concentration of Scientology/Dianetics people in the world. They own a lot of land there, and the City Council is dominated by them.

Why can't someone who doesn't know what's going on simply walk up and say what's the problem instead of chuckin' the guy to the ground? I don't think the guy should have shot him, but where is some level of civil discourse? I'm mad because you took the handicap spot - you know, you're right, I apologize - ok, have a great day.

Life isn't that hard.

In cases where self-defense is claimed, it can be very hard to get a conviction. The state has to prove it wasnt self-defense beyond a reasonable doubt. Basically, i'm saying I can see the jury having a reasonable doubt. Remember, while we see things from the angle of the video camera, thats not his view. He'll be able to tell things from his view and why he thought he was in danger of great bodily harm or resisting a forcible felony.

You don't put your hands on someone. Plain and simple. Did the guy deserve to die? No, but he'd still be alive today if he didn't initiate contact.

Sorry, not guilty.

Florida does not want another Trayvon Martin case on their hands again. As the people on the jury found George Zimmerman not guilty? Their minds quickly changed after the number of time George was in trouble with the law from abusing his ex-girlfriend to road rage to pulling a gun on somebody else. One of these days, karma will catch up to George, and he would be six-feet under.

So, I do not think they will find him not innocent. This guy seems to be a ticking time bomb just like George Zimmerman.

RE: FL prosecutor files charges in stand your ground shooting
This is the way I see it and I posted my opinion when it came out. If anything the pusher should have been charged with assault and it would have ended there. But. The guy on the ground is guilty for shooting the perp solely because when the perp finished shoving the shooter he moved back even before he saw the shooter bring out his gun. Stand your ground would be a defense if the perp continued to stand OVER him but he didn't. I said art the beginning that the shooter should stand trial and here it is.

This is better than being in a real jury. I'm glad that I don't have to serve anymore as it's something that I abhorred. Firefighters, Police and Veterans should be exempted as they've done their (as they like to tell us) civic duty.
