In an interesting side note, there were a number of reports that last year he was playing most of the year with a bad ankle. I knew it bothered him, but it must have been worse than reported.

It was certainly gone in the back part of last year as well. I still cannot believe he was a first round pick.

There was an analyst on NBA TV during the later stages of the draft who was touting Gary like crazy too...basically said everything we knew about him already, and how good he could be as a small ball 5. What none of us knew was how confident AND competent he would be shooting the NBA 3 so far, of course, having people have to help off on Harden/Paul definitely helps space out the defense a bit.

jake at a minimum needs to develop like jimmy butler for the sake of the university. a borderline nba superstar would be sooooo tits

some comments from Houston fans on that article more in the know on their NBA roster than me (and I assume most on this board), are thinking he may be their starting 3 next year and are expecting him to be groomed for a long term future with the team.

really good to see him holding on and developing well.

I love Gary he might be my favorite Bearcat since kmart. The Rockets got a steal GOBEARCATS.

Of all the teams for Gary to sign with, Houston may be his best bet for a long career. Their front-office seems to be more ingrained with advanced metrics than other franchises, and Gary will stand out in the +/- categories assuming he progresses as he did here at UC.

Side note: I'm in my early 30's and never in my adult life imagined rocking an NBA jersey. Sort of reconsidering that notion with both Gary and Jake.

Seen a tweet the Washington is playing with a pro team in Turkey according to Mick

Note on Gary:
since GLeague season doesn’t start till November 2, Gary can be on rockets opening day roster (the max time limit 45 days on NBA roster doesn’t start till then)


also if Rockets want Gary on playoff roster, his contract would need to be converted to NBA deal from current 2-way deal
