The only positive I can see from her doing this is that she will be taking the heat for Jaykwon's rapid de-commitment...Who knows, maybe this is just a smoke screen because he thought he wanted to go to MSU, and then decided he made the wrong decision, and she is taking the bullet for him so his reputation remains untarnished.

Parents will have preferences just like DJ Jeffries dad seems to want him to go to Memphis. At the end if the day the child has to be happy with where they go to school. I commend her for realizing her kid wasnt on board. Appears to me Jaykwon may be a shy kid who's not necessarily outspoken.

It pretty much seems like she is in charge, basically SHE committed and SHE de-committed. I don't know ANYTHING about the kid but this would be a red flag for me . . . I know that's not fair but when you have choices (meaning other recruits), this would weigh into mind if i'm a head coach recruiting him. Wouldn't be the end all be all but it would be something I thought about.

Isn't that what parents do? Try to steer their kids in the right direction.....

If she was taking money.....I see the negative. But to try to influence her kid to go to a program that puts more interest into him.....Not crazy or unusual.

Yeah but by her own admission, he didn't want to commit there. If he didn't want to commit there it leads me to believe that he did it bc she wanted to him and thats it, which has already been said. I get what you are saying as well tho . . .

The thing is though, that 99% of the kids are fine once they get on campus, not many cause problems. Also, depending on which side we are on, we criticize a parent for not being involved and offering guidance or we criticize the parents for not letting the recruit decide for themselves.

As long as mom has her child's best interests in mind, I have no problem with what she has done. Obviously it would have been better if it wasn't public, but that will blow over when he is on someone's campus.

Not a shot at all at you in any way, just in case you think it is. Just an observation.

I wonder if staff got an impression from his mom and started to back up based on that feedback. Clearly she was all in with Miss State and our coached might have picked up on that.
