It looks like their coach is going to get fired after being put on administrative leave due to an investigation into the football program because of a death from a player during off-season work outs.

Maryland is in the Big 10 which is an appeal despite the fact they play in the eastern division( Ohio State, Penn St, Michigan). The school announced they are building a state of art football facility thanks in part from a large donation from UA Kevin Plank.

Because the school is in a tailspin from the investigation they may not garner a lot of interest from other coaches. The job would allow Houston to keep all his recruiting contacts and he already recruits the state of Maryland well.

The question is would booster Kevin Plank signoff on the decision to go after a FCS coach.

The Maryland head football coach job is where coaches go to end their careers.

I wouldn't quite put it in terms so bluntly, but I agree to an extent. I feel that the Maryland job has become less attractive since they moved to the B1G. Their division is brutal and despite the resources Kevin Plank is pouring into the program, they are always going to be a middle of the pack team there. It doesn't help that they have no rival in the B1G either - they're pretty much on an island in the Mid-Atlantic now.

All this to say, the UMD job is not one that worries me if they come calling for Coach Houston. He's clearly a guy that evaluates things from every angle, and the Maryland job is not one that puts coaches in a position to succeed despite the resources a coach will get.

I've said it before, but the one job that would scare me the most to poach Houston is the UNC job. I know UNC football is considered to be somewhat of a joke, but that's a school that has the resources to compete and is begging for someone who can put it all together. I also think the Coastal division of the ACC is more attractive than having to play Clemson & FSU every year, which is why I would put the UNC job over the NC St gig. Despite being a VT alum & homer, I can admit that us & Miami are not at the same level (though Richt is doing a heckuva job reviving that program down in Coral Gables).
And also he’s a big Tar Heel fan... This would be one of the few jobs to worry me as well. Hopefully Larry Fedora is there for the long term and they have a bounce back year.

I was hoping that was not true, but I guess no one is perfect.

The Cheaters are going to have a hard time justifying getting rid of The Hat. He’s got a ridiculous buy out this year. Yes, the Rams Club has very deep pockets, but paying a $10 million buyout plus paying the remaining 8 years on his contract might be too much to pay even for them for the 2nd most important program in Cheater Hill.

I think you are correct. Because I can't stand Fedora and I can't stand the Cheaters even more, then I think they belong and deserve one another.

I did find this site humorous... https://www.firefedoraunc.com/

Of course, he's probably "under attack" just like football, American way of life, and all that other baloney he professed at the ACC Media Days. 01-wingedeagle

And up there for worst thread also. Next person who starts one of these #$¥&@& threads should be strung up on a flagpole and used as a dartboard. It predictably spins into a mess.

RE: Houston to ODU
Here's an idea: make a "Saban to ODU" thread. Sounds ridiculous, right?

Just like this thread.
