California Crazy Megathread
It has become such a recurring theme to see California go off the deep end, I'm just going to have a megathread for this stuff now. Let's start off in style.

Quote:They've been crammed into toilets, tossed off balconies and set on fire. They’ve even been adorned with dangling bags of dog droppings.

As cities from Santa Monica to Beverly Hills struggle to control a rapid proliferation of electric pay-per-mile scooters, some residents are taking matters into their own hands and waging a guerrilla war against the devices. These vandals are destroying or desecrating the vehicles in disturbingly imaginative ways, and celebrating their illegal deeds on social media — in full view of authorities and the public.

“They throw them everywhere: in the ocean, in the sand, in the trash can,” said Robert Johnson Bey, a Venice Beach maintenance worker who regularly comes across scooter parts on the Venice Beach boardwalk, Speedway and adjoining alleys.

“Sunday I was finding kickstands everywhere,” Bey said. “Looked like they were snapped off.”

The vandalism echoes a rash of pellet-gun attacks on so-called Google buses in the Bay Area and appears to be motivated in part by resentment over the increasing presence of tech corporations along the Southern California coast — what is now dubbed Silicon Beach.

I feel dumber after reading that. You should put a specific "mind-numbing" warning on this, but I guess you already had with the use of the word "California".

RE: California Crazy Megathread
I just moved out of San Diego. It's taken a hard turn left in the past 5 years as Republicans flee the rising housing prices and the crazies moving down the coast. But CA Republicans are nothing like Midwestern Republicans.

My wife was told by a lifelong Californian woman, that women shouldn't be allowed to vote.

The middle ground simply does not exist in California.

RE: California Crazy Megathread
As a tourist I’m happy to spend a few days out there.

But the idea of attempting to start a business in that state? Trying to raise a family in that state? Sending my kids to college there? No, no, and no.

Large-scale political trends are complicated and obviously have multiple (sometimes conflicting or overlapping) causes. But part of the reason why the GOP has virtually disappeared in CA is because conservatives have — in a very intentional way — stopped moving there. And some that were already there from birth or childhood or college, have since moved away.

California’s new Governor-Elect, Gavin Newsom, campaigned more-or-less openly on a platform of “F#ck Off, Conservatives” and not only won but won with over 59% of the vote. Probably more than 60% when they finish counting. It is possible that the California delegation in the US House will be 45D, 8R come January.

Classic displaced hostility. They should do these things metaphorically to the politicians that put them in service and urged their use. Perhaps then they would have the courage to move on to their state level of idiocy.
