What Coaches Really Think About Your Team
C-USA coaches were asked to speak anonymously about teams from around conference. This is what they said about each team. 04-jawdrop

"They don’t have national attention but they’re not a transition program anymore"

Uhh, thanks, I guess?

Seemed the highest on your team imo.

RE: What Coaches Really Think About Your Team
I enjoy these articles, but I was hoping for a little more meat. I want to hear them say stuff that they definitely wouldn't say in a press conference. Seems like you usually get some more controversy from the P5 schools.

Glad they were positive about my school though.

Sounds to me like they feel Skip has a better team than the results his coaching is getting.

I think Marshall could say the same thing. Ugh!

Hopefully we start getting better results. With Baker seemingly settling in on defense this past season, we need the offense to get back to at least 2014 levels. Something always comes up though, so who knows.

RE: What Coaches Really Think About Your Team
"Losing Tony Pecoraro to a conference team is hard. That’s the USM problem, though. They’re always having to do more with less."

No. It's not hard at all. His defense got destroyed. At home. Twice. To conference opponents UNT/UAB. Our offense had to bail us out vs. UTSA and La Tech. Also - his defense gave up 34 points to a 1-11 Rice team. That's the MOST POINTS Rice scored all year last year. I'm not losing ANY sleep over Tony Pecoraro leaving for FAU and the rest of our fans should feel the same way. Yeah, it sucks we can't pay our coaches more. But that DC sure as sheeit didn't deserve more money from USM after those UNT/UAB beatings. He's a sub-mediocre CUSA DC at best. I think defensively we're in a LOOOOOOOT better shape than we were last year. Good riddance Pecaroro.

Now, if you wanna tell me it's hard to deal w/ the fact that USM can't afford to pay their coaches more money then fair enough, you have a point. But losing Pecoraro to FAU is not hard at all. Blows my mind when I hear our own fans say stuff like this. It's as if they didn't even pay attention to our defense last year.

I think a lot of fans agree with that. Luckily he is doing enough to keep us relevant and bowling, but he has had a ton of NFL talent pass through Tech and we haven't had a conference championship and have lost plenty of games we could have won. Fortunately for Skip he is winning enough so far that he can keep the recruiting up and underperforming at 7-9 wins isn't too shabby. Hopefully we can overachieve one of these years.
